as far as i can tell the time has not been set yet. a time around 10 - 11 has been mentioned. had a quick read through the tread but could not find a exact time, but i could have missed it.
Its all about the game and how you play it.

She has been raised with bikes, has pillioned since she was 6 and has done some big rides with me over the years, she just loves them. So I suspect she has the handling skills to blitz the driver test and I believe that every new rider should hack around a paddock on an old trailie prior to going on the road. So now she can drive a motorcycle amd will easily pass an exam but in my view she is no where ready for a licence I want to see more and now it is time to develop what is between her ears and give her the judgement skills along with road skills to ride safely on the road.
A scary phase for a parent Terbang. However it does sound as though the skills your daughter has learned on the dirtbikes will stand her in good stead for the future. Perhaps a riding course as a present? Even a full licence is still only a "licence to learn", so having the proper skills from the start is a huge advantage. Also remember that girls are less ego-centric than guys, and will learn more and be more focused / benefiting greater from a course.
    Good on you both!

    Thumbs up

    i've just got back from a ride out that way and i think weasel and gremlin are still scoping it out; I'm sure they will be here soon to define things and answer questions;

bloody nice road, plenty to experience and beautiful stops for chats, coffee, fags and fush & chups

    Yeh I'm home.

Didn't want to set a meeting time until I'd checked out the road / stopping places.

Meeting at Botany Downs BP (Just round the corner from K-Mart, time will be 10am, for a 10:30 departure.

yeah, back now, sunburnt (too long a stop for lunch), but good ride.

Overall road surface is good, patches in places, but to be expected really. Stops have been ironed out, and troublesome corners identified.

Ideally, we will have x number of groups, with riders knowing the whole route and condition at lead, and experienced riders at the rear to judge the riding/identify corrections etc.

The leaders of each group will be able to slow down the group at the relevant dangerous corners, and lead the group along the route. We may still need people to guide the route, but we'll see how many riders on the day, that sort of thing.

Finish will be at the same BP station, so if you can get there, you'll be able to get home as well, don't want to be leaving people in the middle of nowhere

Green stuff to you guys for your efforts so far. Looks like you've put a lot of thought into it.

Out of curiosity, we comin back the same way, or thru Hunua. THere'd be much less traffic on the Hunua road, except the short SH2 bit...

I'd be pretty keen to be a part of this. Although I've had a car licence for about 5 years years and already feel pretty confident on the little GN250 (700km under my belt) on motorways etc, I'm sure I could learn a thing or two.

I'll put my name down but will have to sort out if I'm free on the 29th. I live in Waiuku at the moment, so if anyone wants to meet up before hand (Pukekohe, Papakura, Manukau etc) then that'd be cool. I travel at 100km/h on most roads.

Cheers to Philip from Riderskills for volunteering his skills and time. I did my Basic Handling Skills with him and I'm sure his input would be very valuable.

    yep, as weasel says, hunua.

We get onto SH2 (which will split us up, bloody traffic) then turn off right just after mangatawhiri. As we turn left a couple of k down the road, there is a pull off to the right, we will re-group there.

Somewhere along the route (I ride by sight, not road names - but there is a petrol station just before) we turn right, and the road takes us back to Clevedon.

From there, Twilight Rd, Brookby, Alfriston, ?Hill Rd? and turn off right on ridge, straight through to new development, road curves round (becomes stancombe rd) to chapel. Then onto Chapel, and back to the BP at Botany.

    Enough detail??
