Electronics, RC gear problem

Anyone out there know any thing about radio control gear? Or where I can get it fixed?
My son is trying to resurrect an old R.C. car from my youth but the receiver doesn’t seem to be doing its job.
I think the transmitter/controller is working after extensive testing (made the TV go funny)
Pulled the receiver apart and cant spot any obvious things blown/burnt out so I'm at a bit of a loss.

If Oscar can't help, and you're up for sending it down here, I could test it in order to enusre it's doing what it should be doing. The TV interference only proves its transmitting something. But what?

However, if it's knackered I'd be as much use as an albatross in a kebab shop.
