Well I wish i had more time to finish off mine but I'm sure I'll have it done soon.
But have found time to finish off my streetstock ZXR 250, just in time for the start of the winter series. yahooooooooo
what a nightmare this project has been.
From start.
DEC turners auctions : one damaged 1989 zxr, - I'm in, shot off from work to have a look see. brought it, took it home and faced the better half. spare room is so quite.
broken bits
Fairing, well that was always going to be the case
LHS Footpeg bracket
RHS footpeg bracket missing
1 clipon
switches mashed
rear sub frame bent and broken
front brake res
zorst bent
front wheel cracked
holy sh!t where do i start.
end of feb:
found most bits, fixed fairings. gave it some amsoil started it up.
now : ready to race.
time for the visa ad.
bike $450
parts $more than i wanted to spend
VMCC winter series priceless (I hope)

Bert
Ferkin nice Bert...
hehehe thats MAD!!!
Ill see you there btw..
Im gonna be on the team JDR RG150!!
LETS RACE
I'll just follow everyone and have fun, me thinks
Follow everyone..... booooo
Once your on the track it will change...
Soooo,
Do you mind if i ask how much it has cost you so far??
I set myself a $2000 limit. including bike, winter series entry. new tyres (only brought one new rear, front is currently ok'ish) and there is a wee bit left over, which I'm sure I'll blow soon, needs a new front sprocket and maybe some better brake pads and there's the bucket.Originally Posted by RG100!!

As for following everyone, I've just fixed the bloody thing; (seem i fall of every time i ride my bucket, i think going slow is a good option).![]()
well we will both be newbies on the track!!!
Man im sooo excitied!!
Nice bike! How much did it cost all up? How much do they normally cost at an Auction? Think I should start saving
250s are faster than the 150s at Manfeild. You should have no problem following the front pack

hey daniel, Ill be on the same bike as you!!
Have you got any new tires for your bike before racing??
1350ish to get it rideable, though i had access to a fair few freebies and some cost price bits. Amsoil, blade and tires were the most expensive bits.Originally Posted by alarumba
I think I was lucky with the price. it had a reserve of 600. I won the auction with a bid of 250. then heckeled them down to 400; it was there last auction before christmas so I guess any sale for them was a good sale.
We'll see, haven't done very much riding over the last few years so I'm abit woobly and lacking in confidence. but being back out there sould be fun.Originally Posted by alarumba

Yay!Originally Posted by RG100!!
Racey Rider was kind enough to give me his old TT900GP rear tyre. It's 100/80/17 and it didn't fit his KR so he said if I wanted it I could have it so long as I pay for freight. This tyre is slightly smaller than the original IRC it had so it makes the RG a bit quicker off the line than before, but I haven't found out it's max speed yet. Also the bike turns a lot lot sharper.
I guess you got it off Trademe? Sounds like a good dealOriginally Posted by Bert
Not as good a deal as my TS185. Complete bike but not working, with a spare not working engine, wheels and several other parts for $21(+ petrol for the trip to pick it up from Plamerston North)
Take it easy out on the track. I went too gun-ho last time and suffered for it. I'm going to take it easy and hopefully finish all the races this time
