    Cheers Dave

    Cheers for that Dave

As it happens the standard carbs are 18mm.

I know John well, I will have a chat to him hopefully before the next meeting.

I'm going to give the Rd a run on the track on practice day anyway if I can finish it off before the 14th.

See ya in Nov if not sooner. Might take the RD down to Frosty's Taupo track day in Nov if it's running sweet.

    for 24mm 452mm area

Close enough if there was a 17mm carb available.

John was talking about a submission to raise the 125 aircooled carb size to 28mm. 24 is too small to make competitive power against water cooled 100s with 34mm carbs. 28 is a better size, still a big restriction.

Prod John into action or offer to make a submission some how. I would be glad to help but haven't tried here as our club doesn't really care enough.

28mm = 615mm so a couple of 18s (probably std or use RG50 carbs) bored out slightly under 20 would be the go.

See you guys at the 2hr in Nov.

    Here it is

I suppose you're all siiting at your computers waiting to see a pic of the Honda RD 125, I hope you's all didn't loose too much sleep waiting.

    So here it is

    And the specs
Honda CB125twin frame, Forks - internals modified
    Forkbrace
    Yamaha RD125 twin motor, standard
Yamaha 17 inch wheels, Dunlop slicks
    Suzuki gsx400 brakes
    TZ seat
Total loss battery ignition, on the original RD Coils/points

Had the motor running yesterday sounds sweet. But dies when I give it throttle. Air filters are removed and it sound like it just sucks in air and starves itself. Does removing the air filters change the air/fuel ratio ??
Any ideas on fixing the problem please !!

    Future changes
Replace the exhausts with some expansion chambers
    CDI ignition

If it dies right the moment you open the throttle you will most likely need to reduce the throttle slide cutaway. I've done it with devcon and it worked well. Make sure you rough up the bottom of the slide before you start work so the devcon has something to lock into. Raising the needle may help a little from about 1/8th throttle up to less than 1/2.

hey Steve, yeah it looks very familiar, just can't put my finger on it

If you've removed the air filters on otherwise standard carbs you will likely need to re-jet through the range esp mainjet.

    Taupo last Christmas

Some of you may recognise the RD from last Christmas at Taupo, Rode it in the bucket class. It had the CB125T motor in it at the time... Shit that meeting was a blast. Looking forward to giving you fellas another hiding this year... Go the JAFAS

If anyone was wondering, The CB motor is not going up for sale. Going to hang onto it.

Dave can you give me a hint on jet size relative to what's in there already ?? Cheers..

    Steve
