I reckon go for it mate, just googled this Kinetic thing, its been dubbed as the Indian superbike.

Apparently you can get around 50 km per litre, not too sure about after sales support in NZ? who are the AKL dealers?

I'm sure you'll get over the kick start thing, on a new bike it shouldn't be too much hassle? except for cold mornings..

    good luck.

    Yeah a regular 15hp superbike.

looks more of a commuter to me...those brakes are tiny.

get a fxr bigger faster cooler and you can possibly find one in ok condition for $1700 (i did but that was 1 year ago and prices aren't dropping).

But it is a great deal for brand new. I'd get the 1k one and trash it. not going to get much money for it if you sell it.

well that was exactly what i thought and i would bet that at the look of 25 year old gn's going for 1k that i could get more then i paid after a year or two

Yep they are Indian made alright. Kinetic is actually Kinetic Yamaha . Most car/bike makers in India are actually tie-ups with foreign companies as previously India didn't allow foreign co's to just come in and set up shop. They had to be a half and half partnership with an Indian company.

The build quality will be ok but nothing stunning plus it will be old technology.

Good fuel economy is the biggest concern for riders in India as most people there who are on two wheels are only doing so because cars are so expensive that's why Indian bikes (except for the Enfield's) are all wee tykes, typically 150cc or smaller.

I'd be wary about backup/parts supply. Probably best stick to something Japanese/Korean that can at least be fixed and for which there is a supply of parts.

Well that's my 2 rupees worth anyway
