Unhappy Another two bite the dust...

Well on Sunday Sam and I joined the not so learners, learners ride, that was cancelled. There was only 6 KB'ers on the ride... and two bins...

Firstly thanks to TIE for helping out and taking pic's (which will be on here soonish I think..)

Sam can off the mighty cursed FXR on State Highway 16, misjudged a semi-blind corner, braked and ran wide... causing her to run off the road, and crash into a fence... Thanks again to TIE for checking her out and making sure all her bits were in one piece despite her "take my helmet off" complaints... and thanks to the other bikers on a separate ride for stopping and helping us to get her bike up and back on the road and for getting it started again...

The FXR is munted in the sense that the front, left and right farings are all screwed, both mirrors are gone, the handlebars are bent, the throttle kept getting stuck and eventually partially falling off

After some discussion the FXR was ridden at a slow pace the rest of the way up to Warkworth and left at TIE's sisters place (thanks again).

Sam decided to continue on the ride as a pillion on TIE's bike... we continued up to Leigh and around that area, then decided to head back to Auckland down State Highway 16 again...

On SH16 I binned on a twistie section, wasn't speeding (think I took the corner at about 40kph) saw a wet patch, hit the wet patch, my back wheel spun out on me, managed to keep it upright through the wet, and then hit an uneven patch on the road (looked like little potholes) and lost it completely from there, brought the bike upright and braked as hard as possible until I felt the bike hit the curb, saw the rock on the side of the road... lifted my left leg up and closed my eyes (lol I know... chicken shit little me). Heard the smash as the bike made contact and next thing I was laying on my back on the road.

I think my shoulder made full impact with the rock, resulting in a pulled/torn muscle in my shoulder (according to the A&E Dr).

My ZXR is munted. Aff-Man seems to think it may be a write off

The sub frame is broken, front faring, windscreen, gear lever, left faring, clutch lever, the speedo and all the other dash parts are smashed (still work sort of but smashed)... and a bunch of other things... the managed to get the ZXR started but it was stuck in gear... at least I didn't drop it on the pipe side lol

Thanks again to TIE for making sure I was ok, and to the two guys in the ute that pulled over and gave me and the bike a lift to Dairy Flat, and to Alf Gracie Motors for letting me leave the bike there while I organise a way to get the bikes back to Auckland...

Other than the two bins it was a great ride, perfect weather and good roads, Aff-man was teaching me to get my knee down (lol now I can say I got my knee down... but I don't suppose it counts if the whole bike goes down too

My Spyke leathers turned out to be a great buy, where my should impacted with the rock the leathers are scuffed but a lot less than I assume the Kevlar R-Jays gear would have been... the Alpinestar boots are scuffed too, only suffered a sore ankle, but thats better than a broken one!

So yeah, now it's a wait and see what the insurance company has to say about it...

Sam and I are both at home sulking about our bins and nursing bruised and swollen bodies... and not to mention VERY dented ego's

I'll post the pictures as soon as I can...

Glad to hear everyone walked away relatively unscathed! Recover soon and get 2 wheels under you again!

    Thanks all

Sam has decided that her next bike will be a cruiser of some sort... (not a hell of a lot of options as far as 250's go) and I'll be sticking to the sports bikes... the family are all pissed that we still want to ride... but oh well...

Sam's too short for a trail bike... I don't think it would be worth her getting one under 150cc and the 150cc ones are too high for her to reach the ground...

my aunty got a trailie lowered , it worked well cause she was so small she didnt need the full suspension travel anyway, trailies really do improve your skills.
spose you could both become hetro , get some boyfriends , and get doubled everywhere. remember this homosexualality is just a phase your going thru , you just need to meet a good man each , my brother lives near you
