Thanks for the info and warnings. Do the repo's go there? Or is there a step in between that you can go through - I suppose you have to know someone in the biz?
Does anyone know of bike auctions down Welly way?

They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.

I've found Turners to be a great place to pick up late model vehicles, at good prices. Ex-lease vehicles go through Turners, they reach the age of three years and they are flicked off.
I bought my work cage at Turners, a three year old Mazda 626 Wagon, at about 60% of the retail value. Also bought a little run-about for my daughter the same way, and helped my sister-in-law get an ex-lease vehicle too.
These cars are usually well serviced (part of the lease agreement), and often come with many extras.
It's a great way to get a good car at a good price. But I wouldn't like to buy a cheapy car there - they are usually there for a reason....

I only posted this because of the global economic crisis
Yeah yeah... I was asking quietly if there was someone in the biz who can circumnavigate all the BS so I can just get what I want at a good price without pissing around at auction or other places.
Ok in case you're asking;
The wish list vehicle is a Toyota Hilux. Pref. double cab, but surf will do Looking for a 3.0 ltr 1KZ engine, tidy body. Failing that a CR-V or RAV4 (5 door) or some other 4x4 that's not going drop it's arse in 2 secs flat. I need a vehicle to fit me and 2 boys my size - and the wife and daughter. I am 6'4" so a little vehicle is for me is like a jack in the box!
The budget is severely restricted - up to $3k, so the above is not likely, but you live in hope.
The Charade is to be sold/swapped to (start) fund a bike for me - it's a totally separate issue to this one. (Don't ask been through that with her)

Technical term is "Vendor Bidding". It is both legal and common, maybe even normal. Go to a few auctions (as an observer, not a buyer) and you will learn to spot them.Originally Posted by XxKiTtiExX

tidied them up an make a small profit on them.But on another note,looking at your wish list ,pass on the surf mate,go the the CRV or Rav their both better vehicules than the Surf.I've had a surf (heap of junk)and my wife has a Rav(good value)an the CRV comes out on top in tests of these type of vehicule.
I know what you're saying, Surf's can real pigs. People assume that they're all the same engine etc. when they're not. We went to Turners this am and just watched. There were some really good bargains probably coz of the holiday weekend. The onlty one we were mildly interested in was the RAV4 with the TV.
We also went to a car fair at riverside carpark and quite tempted by a Falcoon for $2200. Took it for a drive and realised why it was that price! Shaky steering and juddering brakes. Meh, it was all good fun....
