Wtd access to a sand blaster

I need access to a sand blast both in Christchurch for a couple of hours to strip a tank, it will cost me far to much to get someone to do it for me, if anyone can help please PM me

You'll need to find someone who has a pretty good set up, as you don't actually want to 'sand' blast. You need to use garnet, plastic, soda, or something like that. Sand will leave silocates (sp ) behind that'll make the paint fail to stick.

(plus it's just messy, and not as fast as you might think, I'd stick to paper, especially if the original paint is still in good condition, you'll never get a re-paint to stick to bare metal as well as the original paint)

Oh how I wish I have just taken aroung 1.5 litres of bog out of this tank and straightened it out, as for the paint that is on it well I guess it could be paint, although I am not really to sure about that (I am suspecting it was an insurance job done by the lowest bidder).

Just take a bit of rough sandpaper to an area. Even if you just use elbow grease you'll cut through pretty fast. Honestly I've tried sandblasting before and ended up doing it 'the hard way' everytime. It's not bad for (very) small areas you can't get into otherwise, but slow as for anything else.

If you do decide to go for sandblasting there is a place out Maces Rd that specialises in garnet blasting auto stuff (mainly whole cars), who I got a reasonible price for to do my car a while back. If you contacted them and just got them to throw it in when they were doing another job then might be able to do you a good price. They do expoxy undercoating too, which is the hardest undercoating you can get, with the bonus that you can fill over it without sanding (which is good since it's f****n hard to sand )
