Harley-Davidson plans to open its first dealership in China this year, as international growth leads the company's sales gains.
Chief Executive Officer Jim Ziemer said "Entering international markets is always a challenge, and China is going to be the same way," Ziemer said. "There are a lot of barriers." Ziemer added Harley-Davidson international sales of its motorcycles rose 15 per cent last year, compared with a US gain of 4.2 per cent. Last year, it reorganised its sales operation in Germany to boost European business and opened its first dealership in Russia since 1917.
