Yep, it was good fun. Kornholio met me this morning in Hamilton and we cruised down Maungatautari Rd to Bryces Cafe where we waited with Quasi and Warr for the Vegas/Taupo crew to turn up. The view on the tennis court was very pleasant though, making the wait less painful.

Eventually the rest of them turned up and we found that Tony had embarassed himself. Apparently he wanted to take a pic so shot off ahead of the others and found a good spot. He pulled over and the front end went sideways on gravel at about 5kph. Bike landed on his foot so he had a fair limp the entire day and getting slower and slower on the road because of it.

Left there and blazed a trail to Kihikihi where we picked up 3 others, including Bruce with his nice new Busa. From there we shot across to Kawhia. I was behind Ivan for a while and wondered why he stuck his left leg out a couple of times. Going around a sharp left he got her right over scrapping the fairings and stuck his leg out again!! Turns out his leg was cramping so he pulled over and sorted it before continuing.

Lunch was very nice with the kitchen at the cafe being kept very busy. Quasi jumped back on the green beast and took off. I think he had to get home for something. The rest of us left a bit later with Warr, Kornholio and the couple of the ZX9 (sorry didn't get their names) carrying straight on before we found out that 2much's girlfriend was going around the loop to Waitomo so everyone followed.

I messaged Korn and let him know but he was back at SH31 before he got it, so he bailed after Warr limped up behind him. Warr was heading down to Taupo for the night so he shot down to Waitomo to hook back up with us.

The ride down from Kawhia to Te Anga to Waitomo was interesting. I still didn't have any rear brakes (new bleed valve is in the rear brakes but I haven't filled it with fluid and bled it yet cos I want to make sure the mongrel is gonna stay in there so I don't end up with more powercoating missing off my rear wheel) and there has been LOTS of resurfacing and fixing potholes so there was loose stuff everywhere. Probably the only one really enjoying it was old Doc on the XT660. Cos Tony on the V Strom had dropped it on his foot he couldn't use the rear brake or weight the pegs, making gravel nasty.

Everyone pulled into a rest area, following John. However, he didn't realise they were less than 15k from Waitomo and probably should have carried on. But everyone was sore and damn hot.

We bailed from the rest area and went to the Waitomo pub where we had a nice cold beer and talked shit for a while. That was more like it. But it looks like 2much is sleeping on the couch cos his girlfriend (on a GSX250) was going to be at least an hour late for work.

That's where we parted company, with 2 pairs heading off seperately and Tony shooting off cos he was sore. A while later the rest of us left, with me being the sole survivor from further north. All the others were from Vegas and Tauranga.

Given a couple of months those roads are going to be mint out that way so look forward for another blast out there.

    Good write up there Mental-Trousers,
Noticed you didnt say much of my heroic effort to lift my bike up after the pea metal from the road reseal suckered me in.

Well Trumpy and me made it down to Taupo, arriving at 6pm .... was a long ride. Will sleep well tonight.

    Thumbs up Nice one

    Hey team,
Firstly, thanks for a great day!
Sorry about the mess up with which way we were going however I was told where to go .. ( not the first time ) so off I went so you could all catch up. .
Sorry I had to take off, was a little late for work but oh well... (and the man must have it good, cause he was fast asleep when i got home from work ... Ahh the life of the unemployed )
Hopefully I will be a little more confident in the not so distant future and be able to keep time with the group soon.
Working at the Pig and Whistle (rotorua) on Monday if any of you are out and about.
    Ride safe

Good to see you had a good time and rode at your own pace...Keep it up and riding will be second nature in no time

And I must say the only time I have wanted my bike to be a 1000 was yesterday following 2much at 150k and powering up the Gixxer and popping the front wheel up....well it was a lot of forced attempts lol but Id need a bump or something to start me off....was interesting watching tho
