I'm having to reasses the whole situation - it's probably going to happen again and will it chuck me off next time?! Not happy. How much would a steering dampener and fully adjusted suspension help?
Steering dampener would help heaps. Suzuki put a cheap and cheerful one on the GSXRs but it makes all the difference. Fully adjusted suspension won't help that much.

A steering dampener should help a lot, I have had the same probs with a lot of bikes, I think they are all built with 80kg rider weights in mind. I have a spare Ohlins dampener you can borrow for a while and try, see if it's going to help before you throw over some pingers to buy one. Not sure how to go about mounting it on the CBR, but the Motomart guys will help you with that one.

I think it goes under the seat somewhere?? Does the Duc' have one or don't you need a dampener on the old rack an pinion steering?

Thanks fellas! I'll try and work all that out Jim!

Bungbung - that's awesome mate! What a beauty!!!

Flame - thanks heaps, I'll chat to ya up at the track today about it.

VW - having a tank-slapper and coming off and possibly becoming seriously injured and having to get limbs amputated and pieces of metal pulled out of my skull is a small price to pay for not riding a suzuki!

I must be super strong then, cause in my experience, not holding the bars with enough grip will certainly allow the bars to start shaking in the first place.

I've found if I'm too relaxed on the bars switching from left to right over bumpy surface, bars can shake. Hold on tight - no shake.

Doesn't extra pressure on the bars through tight bumpy corners act like a dampener ?

Once the bars are in a full slap it's probably too late to do much of anything except pray.

Ouch the Scaphoid, the real motorcyclist's injury. I broke mine palm planting under the petone flyover after I hit oil on my VF400F. Told was a hard bone to break and a harder one to repair.
Almost had to have mine rebroken and set. Walked around for 2 days before I went to the hospital with it. Dude I REALLY feel for ya. How'd ya do it?

Next time rubber side down eh?

I broke it riding my mtb on the Karori BMX track. Short landing on the double jump from the start, over the bars like superman. Hands out, splat!.

I thought it was sprained for the first 5 weeks. 8 weeks in a cast hasn't healed anything. I've got a CT scan on Friday and some kind of surgery involving screws and a bone graft after that.

Weather is looking crap for Thursday.

This is the forcast for Wednesday

"Fine and cloudy periods. Northerlies becoming pushy."

    Pushy? PUSHY?

I can just see this angry cloud waiting in line, getting impatient..

I knew I should have gone for a ride tonight, haven't had a ride since Saturday and I am getting withdrawal.

I'm heading up to Tauranga on Thursday night so even if the weather is good....I'll be missing it this week.

Does anyone know when daylight savings ends?

Usually the last Sunday in March. Which would be the 26th this year.

You're right. I've just read the Gazette. First Sunday in October until the third Sunday in March.
