    15,000kms on michlin powers

    Michelin Pilot Powers

Okay I am a michelin tyre man personally.

I have finally killed my second rear tire on it, after 7500kms, i got simlar milage out of the last rear. So together all up my front as done over 14,500kms. Which is damn good for a high performance sports tire.

Due to the design of a hard center and soft sides, it suits well to my communting/touring/weekend fun riding style, were Most other tires are either two soft, or not hard. This blends the two together.

The first people notice when seeing these tires are the 'sharp' more triangle shape of the tires once fitted to the more standard round shape. This greatly improves cornering ability.

Yes they are expensive. But when compared to the brigestone 014's which i had on and only got 5000kms out of a rear. before it had no tread remaining.

These tires stick well when cold/hot, wet/dry, i never had a single slide out of them even when the tires started lacking tread. I did notice that they did feel a bit strange in the sorta mid to warm period, nothing bad, just strange. I have riden in 80km/h windows, water an inch on the roads. No problems anywhere. I have riden on them on the track were the temp for the day was 28 degree's god only knows what the track temp was.

Puting these tires on my father in laws old bmw k1200rs made a huge different, You didn't have to mussel it so much around the corners. in the handling compared to the dunlop 208's it had previously.

I would recommend these tires to anyone. If you have not tried them do.

The softest rubber mix of any comparable tyre
    • Phenomenal grip; quickly reaches optimum temperature
    • Maximum lean angle in the dry: 50.6°
    • Rubber mix remains soft even at lower temperatures, providing excellent grip throughout your ride.

You don't have to be world champion to get your hands on Michelin MotoGP tyre technology. The Pilot Power uses a rubber mix that was originally developed for MotoGP racing, yielding minimal warm-up time and excellent feedback at the limit. This amazing tyre has achieved a maximum lean angle of more than 50 degrees on dry pavement and a remarkable 41.9 degrees in the wet.

Great plug for the Pilot Powers Cajun! I am running a 190 P/Power on the rear of my Blade and in the last 3000kms it has been a fantastic tyre in the dry & wet!!

Will be sticking with Michelins for some time to come, on this bike anyway.

hell yeah i cant rate the PP's enough, I get 6,000k out of a rear on the R1, the last Pirelli Diablo i had lasted 2,000!!

they are plenty sticky enough in the wet or the dry, and are fantastic on the track as long as you let a 2-3 psi out.....most tyres i have tried wont wheelie in the wet when stone cold but pilot powers do not sure if thats a good thing or not tho

Retail you're paying up to and over $350, but retail's for suckers! and we're all suckers at times...I priced up a 190 Pilot Power just the other day for $300, but the tyre man usually looks after me well on the price!

Tip: Be polite and with a smile on your face say to the shop/salesperson "what's the best price you can do for me?" If you *confidently* use that approach when buying MANY things you will probably pay less for what they are advertising it retail as!!

    Can't wait for tomorrow!
I just finished mounting my wheels back on my bike with some nice new PP's. Never ridden on them before, so tommorrow is my test day.
Am running 180's on my K6 after much discussion and debate. I went with the recommendation of a few experienced riders.
I really rated the Pilot Sports, wasn't too keen on the BT014's as an all round tyre although the BT014's are definately good when running hot.

Good to hear about your milage on the PP,I was getting similar milage on the front of my 2000 Mille R with Diablo's. On the Super Duke the original Diablo on the rear lasted 3000km's and it was totally shagged, gone to the Strada and it's done 3500km's and appears half worn. Sorry for the highjack but I do rate the Strada,on the rear so far anyway

Do you mean that it has a different compound for the sides and middle? I didn't think that this was so for the Powers, only for the new Pilot Race series...?

Pilot Powers are awesome tyres though. My personal fave

the diablos are a very round profile. By the sounds of it the PP's are quite triangular. So no, I'd resist the combo. Try the Diablo Strada if you want a longer lasting tyre for the rear, or go for the michys front and rear.
