Yeah thats just annoying eh. What happened to prison being a deterant as opposed to a camp?
I hate extreme drunk drivers,no not the ones that might be a beer over but the fukwits that are our potential life enders.

Honestly, what's the point in sending these people to prison if they can bend over and pick up the soap without worrying?

Some of the cells at Wiri were doubles..you figure that one out

It does not take to much to figure out anyone who is a repeat DIC offender has a problem..it may be based on shear ignorance or contempt for the general public...or they have a compulsive disorder.......!@#$ taking their car off them, thats total BS......lock them up so they can dry out or at least have some time to stare at a stone wall........do it again, throw them back in........i will still be here building more accomodation for these C@#ts.

Idiots. I pity the poor cops who have to deal with repeat dumbasses like this one. Does blowing 600 now mean he gets the car impounded for 28 days, or just license (license? what license?) pinged for same? And I know what others mean about having an account with the courts. I worked with a guy who would own up and take tickets for other people's driving - "just put it on the tab pig". It didn't make any difference to him.

Last time I knew I was up for a disq (demerits) I went out and bought fastest most non-descript looking car I could find. I discounted Evos/WRXs cos they were too in your face looking, and I didn't like GSRs at the time, so I bought an early 90s 323 turbo. Black. Sedan. Lowered, but not excessively so. Performance exhaust (as opposed to a loud obnoxious drainpipe) and wound up the boost to buggery. I left my personalised plate off it. Registered it in the name of a female friend of mine. Had 15inch alloys on it (as opposed to 17/18s). The radar detector and scanner were inconspicuous(sp). And of course I wore my bloody seatbelt!

And for three months I was never stopped. And before you think it, I wasn't chased either (which was the reason I bought a turbo - hehe).

Out in the country I've seen some pretty dodgy stuff.. Once I saw an old beat up Mazda 323 with no front windscreen and the passanger had his feet out on the bonet while the driver screamed past me going the other way... Balls or stupidity? Stupidity it is...

Some people just don't give a stuff, and that's when they're sober! Add much alcohol to that already careless attitude and you have someone who is a danger to our society. Unfortunately there seem to be many out there who fit into this category, i've heard of numerous cases where people who have been convicted of multiple DIC charges continue to drink and drive regardless of the consequences. Lock 'em up!

A young first time offender here where I live in a small country town, was sent to jail as an example, so how in the name of hell do "these" examples keep popping up in the city? Oops I see it is in small town NZ sorry city people.

I am getting really pissed off with so called "justice" in NZ. Cheers John.
No easy answer really, its the culmination of many soft policies.

It would have been impounded for 28 days when he was caught. The cops would have asked for the car to be confiscated by the courts upon sentencing. But he'd just go out and pick up another piece of shit from somewhere and just keep on driving.

The gene pool always benefots from a little chlorine from time to time.

People like this obviously don't care, and have no fear of being caught, and their general attitude is pretty shit to say the least. Lock the bastard up, or break both his legs until he gets the message.
