    First GT40 to be crashed?

Some plonker in Auckland crashed his new GT40. Stuffed it into a tree hard enough to write it off (bent in the middle).
He said he pulled out of his driveway and lost control trying "to avoid a speeding car".
Are we trying to set a 'most supercars written off per capita' record?
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.

yeah, saw that on the news last night.
What made me laugh, is that Jeremy Clarkson almost didn't get one, and that you had to be on Ford's 'I really really really want one' list, and they pick you.. And then he goes and does that..
Anyone can get a Lambo, but how many GT40s are in NZ? Let alone this side of the world..

There was one in the Mazda/Ford headquarters showroom on Plunket Ave, Manukau. Not sure if it still there but you can see it if you drive into their carpark up to the main door................. was lucky enough to see it in the flesh as per photo.........

    As it SHOULD be..........

Do these guys think a big wallet automaticly makes them good drivers?? I bet that car was going to spend its life "commuting" , never to see a racetrack, which could have avoided that situation. I feel sorry for the driver.

Jeremy wanted the first one ever to come into the UK - he did get it in the end after a bit of pleading.....

I think the issue with GT40 ownership has more to do with supply and demand than Enzo style snobbery...... there is enough demand in the US alone to avoid having to bother with other markets.

    What a waste.......

I'll take that bet. It was owned and driven by, as mentioned above, Tim Watkins, one of the country's top drag racers. He is not a plonker, Lou. I've seen Tim run many of his street cars on the racetrack, including his Lambo. But hey, whatever makes you feel superior.

Really??? Then wonder what made him crash...... any more news on that??

Typical of the media to hide the fact that he was a bit of a driver - so that we get the idea/impression that he's just a rich fool. - "Owned by some company director".......
