Why not do a figure 8 around the full course? Start at Kopu then go up to Coromandel town then back around through Whitianga to Kopu again, down to Paeroa through the gorge to Wahi and back up to Kopu again.

I've been thinking of doing that, but going Kopu, Paeroa, Waihi, Whangamata, Kopu for lunch and to hook up with those that want to do the regular loop, then carrying on with the top half.

That's a great idea W, will do it someday. The purpose of this ride is to cover the distance as quickly and consistently as possible. Therefore I am going to stick to very familiar roads.

I'm not that familiar with the Waihi turn off and don't want to waste time looking for directions. I really want to try and make that 8-8.5 hr target.

If this is practice for the Grand Challenge wouldn'tit be best to do it on roads you don't know all that well?

So are you able to sort your schedule out and turn up??

By the way there may be an awesome day ride being organised by the KB'ers from up North next weekend.
