    NZ Police Reputation

It seems that the reports showing cops in a bad light just keep coming in.

Mustn't be anything happening in politics then.... The f*cking irresponsible parts of media organisations have a lot to answer for. Sensationalist reporting isn't actually news. How newsworthy was it to have camera's at the mudflats where the father got drowned the other night? "But the public have a right to know..." or hopefully see someone die. The Police always seem to wear it when there's not a lot else happening.

Dumb cop. I bet he'll get a reaming from the bosses for that one. But it's all okay, because now the dog is living somewhere else so it won't attack that same animal again. It'll be a different animal next time, or maybe someone else's small kid.

Once I can accept. I'm a dog owner and I understand they have a mind of their own. In saying that, I'd be down at the vet feeling really bloody guilty with my cheque book out before the dog was even out of surgery. But twice? I'd have my own dog put down for that. Family pet or not.

    you are right.
although i wish police were paid more, and also then we could ask them to take their job seriously. on and off duty. but they do need to be paid more.

I thought the Police were a group of individuals that we expect to uphold the laws of the land, not blatantly break them and then try to get away with it.

This isn't just a speeding ticket or anything - someone's pet was mauled. It could have been a kid.

If he is prepared to cover up a crime for his own benefit, would he do the same for a mate, or for a bribe ?

quote:"When Mrs Growcott contacted Kapiti Coast District Council's animal control division to complain about the first attack she was told she was partly responsible because her dog was unsupervised in a public place."

There are quite alot of dog attacks around the place, walk your dog anywhere and the first thing that happens is another dog will come and sniff around it. We live with animals that are territorial and have been breed for all sorts of reasons.

The officer has payed for the vet bill and done his best to remove the dog,i'm sure if it's deemed neccesary then that dog will be put down.

How do we not know that the officer hasn't removed the dog away from the upset kids to be put down? Maybe he is trying to protect his obviously upset kids.

There is a few variables to this and again we can only summise based on a one sided interview. Not everyone runs to the media when a problem like this happens.

I certainly would not want to see a vicious dog left alive. It's just a shame about the manner of reporting

Same here JudgeS. I'm not condoning the dog attackers owners actions (too many esses?) The point is that it wouldn't have made it to the front page if the owner wasn't a police officer. But because he is a cop it's a case of "The f*cking police are all bastards, ytring to rip off us poor mere mortals.... blah blah blah" I've owned dogs for a number years up til recently and never ever had one attack another (these have been German Shephards, a Doberman, a Cavalier Spaniel and a Mental Cat). The woman who's dog was attacked should have had her dog impounded for letting it roam. I doubt that "the kitchen was covered in blood and flesh". A $300 vets bill doesn't cover much and there was flesh splattered around the kitchen then her precious Labradour would have had trouble surviving the trip to the vet. As I sadi not condoning the cops actions with regard to hiding his dog, but the story just wouldn't have been as good without a dirty cop in it would it?

Well, now we know! All scout leaders are paedophiles, all negros are well hung, all bikers are homicidal rapists and all cops own nasty vicious dogs. I feel so enlightened now.

As long as the owner of the offending dog is treated the same, not better than, the mere mortals like us I have no problem.
Not into double standards for race, creed or employment.
Other than that I don't see what it has to do with the NZ Police...all in all not a bad gang as far as gangs go

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
