    Track Day Gear.

    Hey Frosty,

It it necessary to have proper leather or cordura riding pants?
I'm still just riding in Jeans, waiting for Quasimoto guy to get back to me,
I'm doing his website for some gear, would love to attend.
THe new Taupo track is wicked, was there last weekend for the NZ V8's.
Aaron Slight did a few laps on a CBR1000, the track was a little bit dusty, so if it's dry be careful everyone!.
    But have a blast!.

No cudura doesn't need to zip together -- Same with leather.
I just don't wanna see exposed skin.
The usual cadura or leather jacket means theres a heck of an overlap between the jacket and the pants.

    Maybe a stupid question

How do I know if my jacket is made of cordura or not? Recently bought a Teknic textile jacket, and it came with information about just about everything on the jacket, except what the outer shell is made of.
Pays to figure these things out now, rather than on the day...

It's fine Rosie. Cordura were one of the first popular makers of synthetic riding gear so everyone calls it all Cordura.

I think the main thing is 'common sense' aka "If I fall off, nevermind anyone else, but how much pain will I be in / will i have any skin left." If you feel that what you are wearing is enough, then it is... Race leathers etc are the general acceptance of 'wearing enough' but it all should generally come down to the rider's discretion at the end. I do agree with Frosty saying you shouldn't see any exposed skin

Aha. Good to know. I didn't want to turn up and discover that it had to be actual Cordura(TM).

Folks--sorry to sound like a pratt but can we discuss track day in the discussion thread
Rosie -dont sweat it cudura is just a generic name for all that cloth water resistant stuff with armour in it
Zero--nope taint exactly like that --I accept that cudura WILL protect you in a fall as well as leather does> Sure it does self distruct when it does so But the stuff saves your skin even if its F#$#$# afterwards.
Sneakers/2 pairs of jeans/no gloves --well that WONT protect ya in a crash
