    Random zxr wiring

I was just working on my zxr 750 tonight and found some unusual wiring. First up there are blue and white wires that run from the left handle bar (actually goes through a hole into the bar) across to the right handlebar. They dont seem to hook up to anything in the loom except each other. Can anyone shed light on what they do the only thing I could think of was maybe previously fitted with some gay looking bar end indicators or something. Also there is a 3 position switch (not standard looking) hidden away with 3 wires yellow, green and red/blue which dissapear into the loom before I can trace them to their source. The switch doesn't appear to do anything so i'm confused - might just cut it off.

Of course - didn't think of that but I might just try to get them working. Do heated grips look like a standard bar?

Never used them myself, but a mate had them on his GSX-R11 & from what i remember they take a while to warm up, so your's may be live anyhow. ZXR handlebars are solid alloy shafts. the wiring should exit the grip by the flange & be secured along by the clutch & brake master cylinders then disappear under the top triple clamp

I love random wiring, like when I took my insturments apart only to find I had one more plug than things to plug it into (turned out what I had always assumed was an aftermarket indicator relay hanging from my insturments was actually a de-restrictor box, hence one extra plug)

I'd say it is probably heated grips, cause there is not much else it's likely to be. Really your only option is to trace the wires and see when they go to. If it really is just to each other (and your sure) they aren't doing squat.

Got them up and running now - just had to wire another switch in and earth one of the loose wires. Interestingly they are not actually heated grips but heated bars. No more ski gloves for me this winter (hopefully!).
