I gotta say - the Forgotten World Highway (SH 43 between Taumarunui and Stratford) is the best I've ever seen. Makes California look like a parking lot.

Just loverly inn'it, if you are still around those ways Egmont Road that comes off SH3 somewhere around Bellblock I think. That is a very sexy road, its cruisey, however if you float around 120kmph it can get close to an orgasim.

I love those roads where you constantly have corners you can glide around at 100 - 120kmph just cruising. Seems to be a lot of them around the Taranaki region.
