    chopping ears off

looking at gettign a doberman but most breeders wont sell with chopped ears. an i want the full on NAZI looking thing that makes mums pick up there kids an old people cross the road if they see one. its goign to be a guard dog/more than a pet.

ive been told vets wont chop ears. why cant you pay a vet to do it? would be far less cruel to the dog. and anyway of buying anaesthetic from a chemist or vets?

i did have problems buying a suturing needle to stitch my hand up after some drunken fucker stabbed me in my own home. doctor wouldn give me a needle, nor would the chemist, told me to get the doctor to do it but there was a 5 million hour queue an you have to pay them 100 bucks for a little bit of string....

so anyone know of any purebred doberman pups for sale, pref chopped ears an docked tail already so i dont have to. which i wont. cause i couldn hack away at somethings ears while its alive. preferbaly an black/tan more black than tan. all black would be cool.

Check NZKC (Kennel Club) they have a list of breeders. How much research have you done on the breed? German Shephards are better guard dogs and have a couple more clues when it comes to training them.

    and I can highly recommend this breeder;

Can I ask why you want one that has been 'de-eared'?

Don't get me wrong Doberman's are still good dogs. Train 'em right (just like any dog) and they can be awesome. Just check out NZKC and ask a few breeders what their thoughts are. Don't know about the ears but there are plenty still doing the tails.

Arrow Might be pushing it these days mikey.

I also disagree with the comment about the shepard being a better guard dog. had a purebread mastif and it was an excellent guard/attack dog and very well trained. A friend has a doby and its also an excellent guard dog. If I was ever to do it again then I'd like a rotty, but can't agree with the misses so it wont be happening. They tell me thats its very difficult to get tails chopped off pups. If thats so I'd suspect that getting ears trimmed would be close to impossible. Can't say Ive ever seen it done it either in NZ. Can imagine a whole heap of possum kissing treehugging politically correct hippies getting upset over it too.

Forget about it mate - you can't say my dog isn't menacing looking and he has one of the loudest, most gutteral barks/growls I have heard.

Never the less - we got broken into, via the laundry window. The laundry just happens to be where we keep Brutus's biscuits and the door only opens slightly to allow the cat access and the dogs out.

So, in this case the burglar had some 'treats' to bribe the dogs with. Having said that, Brutus is my mate, not a guard dog. I was disappointed I didn't find a badly mauled burglar, but I'm sure he would defend me with his life if I was personally in danger so never mind.

Think about this though Mikey - if someone wants something bad enough - they will take it, regardless of what devices or traps you have - you are only making it a little harder for them.

I would rather Brutus rolled over like a pussy, than take a burglar on and get killed. A dog will never beat a determined criminal.

Forget the dog - get out of that dive - can't be good for your moral.

    I wouldn't worry about them stealing your bike though...it's only a ......

Got ya, but excuse my ignorance (not totally, we used to breed Rotties) but what does it acheive? I'm not judging you at all mikey, just curious is all.

Any large dog makes a good "guard" dog if intimidation is what yr after. I've got a Rottyx and a Bull Mastifx, both bitches and bloody primo animals. They are friendly to my friends but will scare off anyone with badness in mind. And ya don't have to treat them mean to make them staunch either. When I am out in public exercising them the Rotty can be chasing bunnies but if she hears approaching people she'll come running (without being called) and stand protectively in front of me. WHY? Cos she thinks the sun shines outta my butt... not becos she is scared of getting a beating if she doesn't!

Why don't you chop your own ears off so that you look so mean when you're mincing around the ghetto that no one would ever dare rip you off, for fear of "Crazy Mikey No Ears" coming round to fuck them up?
