    Sugilite is a type of rock. (more Gem stone as it is sold both by the gram and carat)
    It was discovered by professor Suga from Japan in the late 1940's.
    I have probably the largest highest grade natural unworked piece in NZ.
    There is a photo of it on my profile. Bet your sorry you asked now eh
