Generalised blame is a waste of time. Have a go at those responsible. Those planning, approving etc. Give them the right of reply, but sounding off at them all?

    Yeah right.
We do need a better / new bridge but that wouldn't help my situation. I travel from St Mary's Bay to Grafton. 27 traffic lights that aren't syncronised and poor traffic management not to mention road works for africa.

Oh yeah, have a go at the Council. Good one. I've talked to various planners and authorities within Auck City. They just don't get it. The only person I talked to that had half a brain agreed that one of the major problems with Auckland's roading design is that Council DON'T communicate with Transit. EVEN *555 SAY THE COUNCIL ARE A JOKE.

Well the council love to monitor progress on building sites which, I might add allowed all those leaking buildings and quickly washed their hands of it. No accountability or responsibility. Same goes for their traffic dept.

I guess the only difference is that with the buildings, these were private works rather than public works and with building consents they have to ensure that submitted plans are followed.........still think that a road works contractor should have the nod to sort out signage but I am cool with your view too....

Funny you should say that. I saw a lady in a car next to me getting really stressed cause she got stuck at an intersection and blocked traffic. She received some road rage and started crying.

One person to a car and you wonder why the congestion is so bad?

I lived in Auckland for 4 years before moving to Wgtn. Used to take me an hour and a half EACH way to get to work every day. I know the roads suck up there, but check out how many people are one to a car, and that goes for any city in NZ. If people car pooled or used public transport it MAY decrease the time wasted waiting on the roads. Auckland is a badly designed city, it needs a bomb through it and someone needs to start again....

Well the general view on 'Shocking Allegations' is that guns against rocks is okay so guess a bomb to solve the traffic problems is reasonable.....

Trouble is that the logistics of care sharing in Auckland may not work as their will be drop offs, not working at same office, difference start dates etc..

What would help is having shops open at later times, say 10 during week...I mean we are at work, visitors are probably still stuck in bed or having breaky, who needs shops open at 9?........maybe re-structure shops, school, uni start times to split the traffic a little.......Fanshaw Street at 5 is a nightmare cause everyone leaves at sameish time.

1 hour for 3.2K's... thats nothing!! Last year I got stuck along Whangaparaoa road for 3 hours!!!! and that was leaving at 6am! We all complained about how horrible it was and how it wont even make a difference but look at it now!! We are never stuck in traffic up here anymore, its fantastic!
But I do understand that at the time it is highly frustrating, especially when you have some where you need to be!
I'm gonna make it so PC
