However I have just got permission from the boss to SWEAR LIKE F__K at operators who ring at 2am in the morning. So I will be having SOME fun over Easter.

Contracturally bound to stay in the Wellington region, and given the nature of my work when on call it ALWAYS involves a 5 minute dialogue with a data centre computer operator who would rather be somewhere else, and at least 30 minutes of wrestling with some piece of crappy CA software or Compaq hardware. Reminds me of a time at IBM when a bunch of us engineers went for a camping weekend/pissup at Otaki Forks. The guy who was on-call had just arrived from Wellington when he got a call to Vogel computing Centre, to remove a jammed tape from a 3480. The operators could have removed it but thought they'd better call IBM.
