and no - i was doing 52k - and i didn't see them til i was well into the catch zone.
geez...I mean... FFS...how can they possibly think that 95km is okay???? Are they simply braindead?
Certainly as easy catch'em in town, damn wish I had one of them cruise control thingies for round town....just gotta be vigilent I suppose. Mind you it is damn hard to get done for speeding on my bike going to work....considering it's a pushie

Doing a runner because your tail light is out....doing a runner while your boss is watching.....doing a runner on a $75,000 motorcycle.

I'd say exessive stupidity was a contributing factor in this accident.

Having said that! (and I'm sure the gentleman in question would now agree) It's plain DUMB to do a runner for a busted tail light full stop! The type of bike does not come into it!

We have all fucked up in life, all done stupid things, often repeatedly but here is a guy that may loose his life, maybe a family may loose a father or a son over a friggin tail light! Please let me never be so daft!

I was just having a go a Motu. It appears he has a bad dose of tall poppy syndrome.

It's quite entertaining watching the fights that go on here, good to have a stir every now and then too

So what happened? He did a runner because of a faulty taillight or he did a runner becasue of 80k's in a 50k area and the bike had a faulty taillight. Either way he was going to get an instant loss of licence. Either way a fellow biker is down..........for whatever reason. Not good.

Yeah I know that (I'm only partially thick) ;-)

However Motu will confirm I'm sure that there is plenty of snobbery as well as envy. ie Blokes havin a go at you because you happen to like older or smaller bikes... Funny old world really! ;-)

Explain how I'm envious of Motu's bike? - I'd need one for each cheek.

This is news to me - over 6,000 posts now...and I don't think I've ever done a post where I have critisised someone for having more money,or a better bike than me.There could be some posts where I don't think it's too cool buying all this stuff never to use it,but I don't think it's tall poppy....Overspending with no taste sure - but as a someone who owns their own business....rich people pay their (overinflated) bills.

no - not typing too fast, you're just not making sense. read your post carefully - either way - either from the 80 in a 50 or the broken tail light he WAS going to lose his licence - this suggests to me you believe he was going to lose his licence for the alleged offences committed BEFORE doing the runner.

please enlighten me if i am wrong.

I know it's Friday but what have you guys been drinking today? So much venom spat at a complete stranger who crashed for some reason we don't know? Who ran for a reason we don't know? I really doubt, no matter how dumb some think he must have been, he would have crashed on a gentle bend just to see if it would hurt.
And why does the paper mention the brand this time? You don't usually hear of 'a speeding motorcyclist on a Honda/kawasaki/Yam..' I guess because of the $75k cost maybe that justified being specific. Like the Lambo incident or the test driver who went into a creek in a Porsche in Wgtn last yr (or was it a Ferrari)
Sadly we are going to see a lot more of these runners gone bad stories as a result of the draconian traffic penalties we have and the demerit system. But still no chance of us ever getting a similar three strikes and you're out system for serious criminal offences. Shit no, that would cost the Govt money instead of bringing in the ka-ching.
Why the hell can't demerits be counted con-currently instead of cumulatively, just like shit head repeat crims who get 6 sentences worth 5 yrs from a Judge all to be served con-currently in prison over 6 mths!
