Post Get your complete disaster / civil defence information pack here!

    Hey folks

I've had a nagging feeling for quite some time now, and I've appeased it by compiling in my opinion, a very comprehensive Disaster / Civil Defence planning kit / information pack. Even though I already have quite a few supplies around the house, the fact that they nor I are organised makes them far less efficient.

A fair bit of the details are location based (Full areas in Wellington, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Eastbourne, Wainuiomata, Petone, Whitemans Valley), but most of it is general information, to which those from other areas could edit out the included areas, and cut&paste the areas specific to them.

I have attached the pack in .zip format, mainly for download reasons. The pack contains quite a few documents, some .pdf and a few saved web pages, and their associated content folders. The total size of the zip file is only 2.081mb about 6 - 10 minutes download, based on a 56K dial-up modem. Un-zipped files size is only 2.640mb.

    Important
Unzip the file Civil Defence.zip in or to a separate folder.
    The files of importance are:
    Disaster Survival.doc (Main document)
4213_CVD_Emergency_Plan.pdf (pdf file to print and save/use, created by NZ Civil Defence Dept.)
CVD_Checklist.pdf (Second pdf file to print and save/use, created by NZ Civil Defence Dept.)
The rest of the .htm files (Informative pages on a certain topic).

These automatically use their associated directory for loading content/pics, as long as you open them in the folder you unzip the zip file to, i.e. keep the .htm files in the same folder as their content directory, and access them by opening the htm file, and NOT usings the pics in the directories)
Don't worry, it's alot easier than it sounds, infact dead simple. Files are clean & safe (virus/spam/spy free)

The information included is solely attained from researching publicly available sites in New Zealand, and is not my original content. While I typed alot of it out (for formatting/layout reasons), the content was copied verbatim from the following sites, and is the work of the respective authors:

    http://www.civildefence.govt.nz
    http://www.getthru.govt.nz
    http://www.huttcity.govt.nz
    http://www.upperhuttcity.com
    http://www.wellington.govt.nz

The reason for this post, is that I think everyone should at least have this sort of information quickly and easily available, preferably by following the guidelines therein. Hopefully it's of use to someone here.

    Regards,
    David.

Thanks for that Dave. I agree - be prepared. Even if you never have to use your CD kit, is it's on hand then if it is needed it's there.
