Well that was a great start to the long weekend.
Just thought I might as well shoot out for a little blat over the hill just to get back into the mix of things after not riding for a week or so.
So I warmed up the bike and headed up there, good weather, a little chilly though, but nevertheless better than what we've currently been having.
Got to the top and remembered that Unit mentioned a diesel spill on the steep side, so I took my time on the way down and only went a tiny bit quicker on the way up, thought I might as well scope things out. All clear, could see where the spill had been though, just near the top before the last set of really tight corners. Great.
Shot back down at a medium place to just let the tyres warm up a bit before the fun started. Then the holiday traffic arrived. Feck!!! Didnt matter though because on the way up the majority of people were kind enough to get out of my way. On the way down however, people obviously didnt realise that the slow vehicle lanes aren't just for the trucks, sheesh.
Anywho, on the way back up I noticed a black R6 had pulled over (he had a pillion) and let his mrs on the back off, probably to let her stretch or something, wrong lol. He left her there for about 10 minutes while he shot up and down a few times. Each time I went passed Id notice her standing there looking bored as hell, couldnt help but laugh... priorities eh?
To the rider of the maroon harley davidson, sorry if I pissed you off when I overtook you on the way down but it wasnt like you were going any quicker than the rest of the traffic, and it looked like your pegs were going to dig into the road if you leaned over any further than 10 degrees. Therefore there was no reason to act like a smartass shithead and blow past me that close while I was taking over another car. Just immature. I know you may feel like shit because you were overtaken by a 250 but having to make yourself feel better by riding dangerously isnt cool.
So I kept shooting up and down for a while, just focussing on smooth transitions from one side of the bike to the other, taking off the damn chicken strips that were still there....
Ended up spending a good hour and a half up there, and chopping down the strips to the point where I was quite happy

so headed home.
Good to see quite a few other bikes out there.
-Mike.
PS. anyone keen for a blat on Sunday? (would have to be back by 3pm, but could still make good use of the time ive got)
Ever seen lord of the rings?
