Just spent a week in a bach up at Matarangi with Reid and his family and one other family. Took my bike up on the tralier and Reids wife Kate took her CBR600.
Weather was outstanding, forecast for the start was for shit but it only rained at night. I did a run Matarangi to Coroglen for a beer, Matarangi to Tairua for a beer and 2 anti-clock loops covering around 600km for the week. The whole loop is 195km of outstanding twisties, fantastic riding and definately taking my bike on holiday again!
Its got to be as much fun as you can have with your pants on!![]()
Get rid of those NANA knickers, and FIGHTER it!
You can pick your nose and you can pick your friends, but you cant eat your friends!
Nice Corro report their Toebug. Yep great roads alright. What was the tourist situation like?![]()

st1300 first trip
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
as some of you will know i have brought a st1300 after having the R1 for a year.
as much as i liked the short runs on the R1 i missed the long rides even more!
well my first long ride was this weekend.
0430, leave mount maunganui head to gisbourne through opotiki then the gouge, arrive for breakfast 0720, then headed to mahia peninsula, from there to napier for lunch, it was raining when i left the mount on & off till i got to gisbourne then it was blue sky all the way,
from napier it was off to taupo for dinner & a bed for the night.
sunday was off to rotorua, kawerau, whakatane, then home,
what an awsome ride, one of many comming up! just on 1,000kms.
very impresed with the milage of the st1300, got to gisbourne 283kms toped the tank back up $20.
Gees you guys are doing awesome write ups tonight. I heard you had changed bikes.
I was planning the Opotiki/Gisbourne, Napier leg for this Thursday, sounds brilliant. And your miliage/cost/range sounds very much the same as the 14.
Glad your enjoying touring again, its fun.
