    rustys race report- b.o.t.s. 19.2.06

Yes it was hot , recon hotter than last year. and guys if you were not there it was hot racing too. Set up base next to a couple young blokes who i now discover are also K Bers, K14 and KK, hi fellas.
Just after leaving briefing i thought shit what do we do in a red flag situation as nothing had been said , talked to a few others we'll just keep going and come back to dummy grid. Went out in 1st practise not mentally prepared but buy 2nd practise started to get to grips with things. Like others could'nt understand the grid positioning i believed it was based on points from last year and Wanganui, for race 1 i was about 34 but i do now that others that had'nt raced at all were grided further up the front (stop moaning ).
In race 1 i thought that i would use Craig on bike 48,and Frosty, knowing Frosty hadnt raced here before, as bench marks. The flag droped and as usual my starts are ratshit let the bikes sort themselves out into turn one then settle down to pick the next bike off, couple laps in i was tucked right in behind craig and both of us had a good battle to the line.Race 2 i found i had moved up 11 places on the grid so that gave me a good feeling going into the next race, Got a lot better start this time even dragged craig off the line, with a lot more confidence pushed a bit harder, did'nt like that patch of melted tar though i keeped on trying to keep inside it, in lap 4 in a brave move passed three bikes going into the hairpin only to find i'd left my braking a bit late ,ended up rubbing along the haybales for about 5mtrs,hung onto it but for what i'd gained i now had just lost,so gassed it up and chased Craig who had got passed me and he was now catching Frosty and i belived passed him in lap 6.
So that was my day packed it all up headed for home 5hrs drive away.Nice to meet all you guys again ,and to Greg Sharpe hope you have a speedy recovery .

    Have fun "GROW OLD DISGRACEFULLY"
