    The Bloody Mary Episode - Tonight 9.30 - C4

Yep they moved it forward by seven weeks!

Can someone please record it for me, as i will be unloading planes at that time

Part of the storyline is that a statue of Mary is bleeding and is proclaimed as a miracle, then the pope comes to see it and says its just menstral blood, it then proceeds to shoot blood all over the pope.

^^^ thats what all the fuss is about, i wanna see how bad it really is or if these catholics are just in a huffy over a little sick humour.

Agrees with PF re SouthPark, but I WILL be interested to see how the Catholic community reacts, compared to the recent Islamic blasphemy...

I feel it's been all blown out of proportion. Has anyone noticed most of the media attention about this episode has come from within CanWest companies?

    Any publicity's good publicity huh

Ive already seen it awhile ago. Its not that bad.... well no worse than any other episode that they take the piss out of religious groups etc. If people think that they're going to find it offensive then they shouldnt watch it, its not like its the only channel on TV. I for one found it very funny, but everyones sense of humour is different I guess.

South Park takes the piss out of everything: 9/11, Muslims, Aliens, School teachers etc etc etc. Now it's Mary's turn. I can understand that some people don't like it - so don't watch it if you think you might be offended. I will be watching it for sure.

To quote Canwest's manager, "if you think you'll be offended, don't watch it".
I won't be offended, but I won't be watching either.

I'll be watching out of principle. Satire is commonplace and nothing should be allowed to be out of bounds. Thats what freedom of speech is all about.
If you get offended then tough shit, thats life, get over yourself.

    And another thing.

A tea room discussion about this got pretty animated this morning. One of the people I work with is from a seriously Catholic family. Eyes got red and started to water. No one was being cruel - it was just the topic that got her upset.

I am glad I didn't get on to my theory that Jesus was actually the son of a Roman soldier.

While I really don't care, I was reminded that some people really do. Advise caution when discussing this face to face with people who may have a Catholic background.

South Park is just like WINJA, but on TV...

If it was really so vulgar and repulsive then why is it still showing on TV?

If you have views that are based on illogical ideals then at some point you will get offended.
People send/tell offensive email/jokes all the time, some of these senders are likely to be catholics and the content is likely to offend another group or groups.
Hypocritical is a word that is often mentioned in the same sentence as Catholisism.
Wake up people free speech is dying.

I bet everyone who's making such a fuss about this episode hasn't even seen it. The point of the episode isn't just to ridicule the Catholic Church (there are plenty of other episodes which do this well enough) but to show that your fate is in your own hands and you can help yourself rather than placing all your faith in a higher power.

There are going to be some people feeling pretty stupid after they watch this one tonight.

I'm glad that the guy running Canwest isn't a complete pussy. Hooray for freedom of speech.
