I'm not worried- I just look funny

Yeah, sounds like he will come home. He's recovering now. Hopefully they're wrong and it's not cancer. Spoke to the surgeon, turns out they're not postive it's cancer, just highly suspicious. I just hope if it is cancer he can recover from this op to have some more good times.

    Me poor old dog!

Well the day is getting better.

Bought Max home. Poor old bugger! Take a look at the wound in the pic...
Read the kids "Bad Jelly the Witch" before bed- my favourite kids story complete with authentic voices even! Then a few minutes ago I heard Zach singing "Banana's in Pyjamas" just before he dropped off to sleep.

Now hopefully MrsB has something 'special' planned for me....

    ouch, poor old max
My last dog had several lumps removed, and went on for a few years after that, so have my fingers crossed that Max does the same.

And TYPICAL I missed you Birthday!....bloody hate school somenights...Hope it got better after the Max saga, which knowing MrsB I'm sure she DID do something special for ya

Thought an update on Max might be a good idea, as we now know whats up

He's recovering well. Infact he's happier than he's been in ages. We got the results from the biopsy on the huge lump they took out of him. ITS NOT CANCER!!!

After finding out what it was, a few seemingly weird events now all fit together. On the day of the Nelson Port Races, Max was hanging out on the farm with my parents. He fell off the back of a ute while going through a gate at low speed. He was fine, still running around etc. Then after running around heaps he started to go a bit off colour. He had torn all the pads in his feet running around (big fat soft townie dog!) and was in some pain.

After this he was depressed and off his food for ages. It took over a week for him to let us see his feet (you don't mess with big teeth like his!) After that he was STILL off his food for about 3 weeks- not like Max at all. He got quite smelly and his breath stunk real bad. He was always puffing, and it was while I was trying to see if the fall off the ute had actually done some unseen damage that I found the lump.

So what was it? It was a 'fatty lipoma' (hard lump of fat) which had suffered a major trauma- (he may have hit a fence post when he fell off the ute). When this happens they can form a 'shell' around the outside. The shell on Max's was the toughest and thickest they had seen. They actually had trouble cutting through it. Inside was rotten fat, a result of the trauma.

SO, thats why he was sore, depressed, off his food and smelly. Poor old Max!

    As you were.
