You'll keep, Lias! A lady is allowed to conceal her age!

Being a freelancer I usually take the day off on my birthday but I started a four-month contract at Massey as a web editor - starting yesterday! I tried to get the start date put off until next week but no joy. At least I got pressies at home (book, chocolates, flowers) and I'm getting new motorcycle pants when we go to Auckland next month - and I have cake, so things aren't too bad. Martinborough Fair tomorrow - fingers crossed the weather will be fine and we can sit out in the sun somewhere nice and have a belated birthday lunch.

Pity you guys aren't up here in Palmy with me - I'm on my lunch break and I have three quarters of a chocolate cake (with mandarin liqueur in it!) left. I am working with only one other guy down at the Hokowhitu campus so I could be taking cake home - unheard of in any other job I've been in!

I think I am going to like it here - they have a cake bake-off every Thursday, with points being awarded for appearance, presentation, taste, etc. I am down to produce a masterpiece on June 8!

I even had a call from one of my sisters tonight, which was nice. Shame about the power cut though, thankfully we'd finished dinner!

We'll relax tomorrow then start celebrating again on Sunday - March 5 is our first wedding anniversary (and my late father's birthday) so it's a big weekend. This time last year I was a little stressed out - and a little slimmer! I don't rate my chances at fitting into "the" dress again any time soon - shouldn't have had that second bit of birthday cake!
