    I need to rant

Sorry Guys and Gals, long day so far, and even longer to go. I just need to have a rant to get things off my chest. (Mods, feel free to delete/move this thread)

Anyway, I have been stuck at work for the last 16 days. I havent had an actual day off as everyday I have had to come into work for some reason or another. Of the 16 days, 12 have been 10 hours+ days with little or no break when I get home either!!! Not only that, I have another 16 days to go before I can actually sleep in and spend a day at home rather than my desk! Even when Im at home Im constantly monitoring the systems, coming in to fix computers and dealing with SFA (Stupid fucking arseholes) who just take great pleasure if fucking up my systems. Oh yea, I only get paid 40 hours a week!

I had no power the other night cause some cage drivers took out a power box. YAY, my phone starts going off the hook cause something went wrong and the next day Im in trouble cause I refused to come down to work and restart the server at 10pm when I was at work at 5am. On top of that, I have some guy complaining that I wasn't on time to the drinks I organised for some people who are in NZ! Wow, I organised the fucken drinks, I'll turn up when I want! On top of that, they almost took MissSniper out when she had her indicator on and they cut on the inside. I won't accept any excuses or apologese mate, Im annoyed.

Im annoyed at the lack of sleep Im getting, with the work phone ringing 24 hours a day becuase Im not allowed it off and no one else will take it. Im pissed off that I can't spend more time with my darling and head out for rides on our bikes. Im pissed off at friends becuase they complain that Im never hanging out with them. Im pissed off at the fact that customers expect me to bow down when they are pissed off, and I hate the fact they demand to speak to my manager (me) when they can't get their way. I dislike the Londeners that claim CHCH is impossible to navigate. I dislike the Isrealies that fuck up most my cars. I dislike the Americans that think I owe them anything and I like the Aussies who are like harmless play things and are confused easily

Now, Im expecting some shit stirring to start, to those I say "I don't care" To those that worry, don't. Im a person on the internet, Im just words on a screen to most so I don't expect anything.

I just felt like a good rant and like I said Mods, do with it as you please.

Sniper, go out side, keep walking to you find a pub, order a beer and a vodka chaser, consume, go outside and find a dodgy looking fella who can sell you some weed, consume, go back into pub and order another beer and vodka chaser. you are now ready to face the rest of the day.

even if you can't mate, its nice to sit down for 2 minutes, clear your head and day dream about the above events.

I'm the same.. but not.. if you know what you mean..
I'm not doing those hours, but I've got every fuckin a-hole wanting their shit done yesterday, but doesn't give me it until tomorrow.. hence my sig..

I can sympathise mate.. And I wouldn't blame you if you turned around and just told them to get fuct. Can you find another job that pays the same else where? Then they might actually appreciate the crap you do, rather than just sling more shit your way

You're starting to blow already! You need to take a day off in there somewhere.

I've had major issues sorting out my contract.. and the likes.. Took approximately 2-3 years before they acknowledged my ramblings.. though I'm still overworked and underpaid its better than I was..

I've also developed an attitude of not pushing myself so much to complete all the tasks.... I still work long hours without reimbursement.. but there's some leeway... but thats only because I started to refuse to work the longer hours and things were starting to fall apart and they noticed this. but I digress.

After hours support should be only mission critical (i.e. business will either lose money or come to a grinding halt)... You need a policy stating this. If they expect after hours support for non-critical systems.. then you need reimbursment.

Stop taking it on.. and tell management of your concerns. i.e. burn out, job statisfaction, stress, financial responsibilities etc etc

Dude you need to put your foot down. There is no way in hell I would let my boss make me work all those hours.

I'd be given them a firm talking to or I'd be lookin for a new job.

Don't let them take advantage of you Sniper, give them an inch and they will take a mile trust me!.

I hope you get this sorted... Talk to management. Give them options. Tell them what you are doing.

Read your contract... and then discuss with management. Sounds like you need help (same here.. but it wont happen.. thus things just get put on the back burner.. and they know why. As I've told them!) which is what you need to start doing.

Start talking to management. Perhaps agree to report to KPI's, talk about workload, perhaps try for a PFY for the extra workload that holds you up from doing your real work..

all options... Hope ya get it sorted (remember to not just take it on and bear with it.. Do something about it.. talk to management about your concerns!)

Just politely inform them that you think you're beginning to have a nervous breakdown, and they will be liable for all rehab costs involved.

That way you get time off work to bum around all day and they pay for it!
