Hey all, hope you had a good afternoon, I had a good morning, but had left my wallet at home, and had 3 missed calls from work, so thought it probably wasnt a good idea to test how many kms I can/cant get outta my tank.

Next time though, and was great to see such a good turnout.

Thanks to all who came along. Always great to see so many bikes lined up at Caltex Rimutaka.
The day started off warm and dry with a blue sky but ended up with a wet run back and a definite winter feel.
Pity the hill climb was cancelled due to the turn of weather.....didn't soil the always great ride out Gladstone way.
Hope those riders who came off are ok.

Once again thanks to all who support these rides.

    Cheers
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy

Anyhoo - another good day out folks - here's a couple of random pics

is that a normal kiwibiker turnout?
Aha...saw you turn up and then you had disappeared...bad luck eh?
Probably on the better side of normal (turnout) but not unusual to get that many on a good day

Thanks Sels for the pics and helping out today.

I saw Paul and Vicky heading back from the hill climb. Would have liked to say gidday to them as I haven't seen them for a while.

Yeah I hooked up with P&V at Featherstone and rode back to Raumati with them.
So what happened to you after we passed you when you were standing on the Carterton turnoff waving us thru? I went from having 4 bikes in my mirrors to 1...

Hi qpideo, What happened to the bike? You were going along quite nicely between Tawa and the Haywards lights!

Sorry I couldn't stay with the group but prior commitments called. There's always the next time. But shit, you guys left me for dead along the back road at Tawa. You all just opened up and went past the white car as if it was standing still. And I thought...

shit, I ain't got the power to get past like that. I'm not sure who it was at the back of the group but thanks for staying with me until I got passed. I'm normally quite happy to sit behind due to the lack of power.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

yeah was good of you to come along. When over the rimutakas I lost proberly half of my power. Bike struggled to get up to speed, been back firing, has no power & seems to hickup. might be sparkplugs, bad fuel or carbies. gonna get it looked at tomorrow so i can fly through the backroad some more. Hope you come along to the next ride

That was the last time I saw you as well. Charlie and I stopped as pauldarney had turned around to go back for his sunglasses. Then we arrived at water tower road to find the hill climb was cancelled so we carried onto Mast for gas....that's when the weather really packed up and everyone just wanted to go home.

Was a good turn out. Well done to those 250s I was riding with. We all got back ok (except our 150 friend?) depsite the sh1t conditions on the hill. Was bit chilly when I left the top with VasWar and others. We ended up passing about 50 cars on the way down. That Horsefloat guy really should ahve pulled over.

Cheers Uncle B, you are a legend.

    Thumbs up

    Yes, it was me.

I don't know what happened. The last thing I can remember was the steering shaking violently and trying to get it under control and the next thing I came to in an ambulance. I was only going slow round the corner because the road was quite wet.
Jeff was behind me and found me lying face down on the road out cold. Apparently I was out to it for some time.

I am home today, just aching and sore and my head still feels a bit groggy. My bike just needs a new footrest but I will have to get a new jacket because the people in the ambulance and A&E took to it with scissors and everything else I had on my top half.

I should be back on the bike in a few days.

Glad to hear that you are up and about albeit a little sore.

I bet you will get 50,000 theories on what happened but thats for later on. Heal up, have a rest have fun and keep on keeping on Chrissie.

    Best Regards
    Paul and Vicki

ps - I bet Jeff was a worried bunny for a bit there...
