"Rider" Bike Seat

These are the seats done by McDonalds Motor Trimmers in Tauranga.
The service was excellent, I couriered it on Monday and had it back Thursday.
I was offered all sorts of options, whether I wanted coloured piping or various scripts embroidered on the seat. But being an admitted heterosexual, I stuck to black.
Today was the first chance for a try out, so we headed up 16 to Mangawhai for lunch.
Now the reason I changed the seat was to improve pillion comfort. Wifey was always sliding forward and suffered severe butt burn after 150 k's or so.
The first thing I noticed was that she wasn't trying to join me up front anymore, a comfort check at Cowkop showed that all was well. I did notice that I felt my bum bones on the seat but it wasn't uncomfortable, perhaps that's a result of the firmer foam.
Then it was non-stop to Mangawhai with not a trace of numb bum. A quick bite to eat and then home again.
240 k's and her derriere was untroubled, nor was mine. Very comfy.
I think we've found the answer.
BTW, halfway along the Mangawhai Rd, an R1150GS come up quite quickly from behind. He passed after a while, so I tucked in and upped my pace a tad. He was super smooth through the corners and we were probably up to 120 at times through some of the tighter corners. He turned into the same lunch place, so we exchanged pleasantries, as you do.
Then we both realised that we were ex-MOT around the same years. He's still only occasionally riding cop bikes now, but that sure explained the smoothness. (and the pace through the tight stuff)

My McD's Rider Seat cost $500, and has been well worth it. My Arse is so much better for it. It was awesome for the Grand Challenge and it helps me eat-up the 400Km between Home and Tauranga

After you took all that gear (using restraint) with on the coast cruise? I doubt that somehow.... You just don't want us to see your missus displacement!

A rider custom seat normally around the $500 range, alot of depends on what you wanting to be done to them, we do everything from dirt bike seats, to $100k+ harley seats.

Difference to corbin(not that you can get these here any more unless you import your own). Is they are all come off a production line. Our seats are custom made to suit YOU and YOUR needs.

Do they only use foam or can they make gel seats as well?

Fishslayer, a good foam is just as good as gel, saying that its getting the gel, i have found a set of gel inserts, i am looking at importing from the states, so we can have a 'play' to see if its vaiable opition for some people.

But i have done over 700kms on one day on my gsxr600, also did simlar milage on my gsxr1100 with a seat, rear end was fine afterwards.

My ZRX had the same problem with "pillion encroachment". Why then do motorcycle manufacturers design seats in this manner, when it is so easily remedied?

Hitcher its one of the most common reason we are asked to modify seats, due to 'pillion' comfort or moving backwards and forwards, and more often than not, if the pillion is not happy. the rider is not happy, and not allowed to ride as often.

The other major reason is to 'lower' seats

The standard seat on my blade is bloody hard!. after about 80k's on it and it starts to get painful. I took the 06 ZX10 for a rip the other day and they have a gel seat....that seat is without a doubt the most comfortable seat I have ever sat in (even compared to sports/tourers seats).

yeah zx10r first bike to come factory gel seat that i know of.

Gel seats are good, but i have heard of some bad storys of them not lasting long time.

But still wanna get one of these gel pads in and see if we can figure something out and see if the are a usualble opition for us to look in to
