Hi, havent been on KB for some time but Im glad I picked up this thread today. 22nd April looks good. Its two weekends after the Drag Wars, which helps with the expense for those of us trying to cram in the last of the summer riding.
Personally Im really looking forward to meeting and riding with a bunch of girls. I ride with groups of the guys every weekend, sometimes I dont go along because its a guys thing only, and I feel they can get tired of a chick tagging along ALL the time (they feel they have to mind their Ps and Qs a little with a chick around).
I think its a great idea that we meet up with the guys later in the day, then they may organise to go off on a ride together in a different direction. I believe they wouldnt purposefully take over what is organised. When we did the Gixxer ride up north here there were similar opinions about any other brand of bike going along. We had a brilliant turn out in the end with 13Gixxers and 18 bikes all together, the rest of us just wanting to witness such a great sight seeing all those gixxers together. I guess this is a little different as there seems to be an emphysis around more learner riders amoung the girls. For those girls out there who are still building their riding confidence, I find most the guys very helpful and respectful. Yes generally they do go faster, and yes generally they do ride with more 'balls' attitude than most of us. But you learn not to buy into that and as with any bunch, just do your own thing at your own pace. Im sure a lot of the guys will be keen to give us helpful tips on the day.
My vote? 22 April, girls meet, guys can watch and wave us off as we depart, girls go do their run, guys go do whatever, everyone meet for a catch up and story telling mid/late-ish afternoon, maybe a BBQ somewhere.
