Arrow Question for the police that frequent this board

But open to anyone else who wishes to comment.

How concerned would you be about the prospect of someone with a learner licence (and pretty limited driving experience) driving from Wellington to Auckland accompanied in her first car (a 1989 BMW 320i)?

If it was someone I knew I would get the accompanying person to drive rather than a learner in a rear wheel drive car assuming they have no experience on the open road nor rear wheel drive.

Ditto on what sAsLEX said. Give them some tutoring on less crowded roads, but dont let them drive when there is more traffic

    EDIT: Bad idea then.

3 series, 2 litre 6 (1990 would be a common shape ike all the wannabe ganstuhs hav at the moment) fairly gutless but mosey on up to respectable seeds etc

begguer that, around 8 hours driving or whatever, and on learners on own.... thats just stupid.

There are no police that frequent this site.

She leaves herself open to getting a $400 ticket and 25 demerits each time she is stopped by police.

On another tangent, how would the person who let this learner loose on the roads feel if she never got to her destination and killed herself in a crash (and possibly others) which was due mainly to her lack of experience??

Why does she HAVE to do this journey - and solo? IMHO It is not a good idea.

Funny! That's what we used to say about front wheel drive!

rear wheel/front wheel drive? There is no difference to a learner except they can do a tighter U-turn in the rear whell drive, the technicalities of the two configurations will be lost on somebody with such little driving experience.

Not to the less experienced who have no sense of control in the event of something going wrong.

You were too quick, it is already altered, you must have been typing this as I was editing.

EDIT: Went back to post and it WASN'T changed - but when I went to 'edit' it was (as per my change). What gives?
    BTW It IS changed now.

Well, that's just it - no one has let her loose, it's entirely her own decision. I'm just wondering if anything can be done to prevent her from making this trip because I fear for the safety of other road users. Her intentions are all documented on her blog. She seems proud of the fact that in the two or so weeks she's had this car, she's never once been accompanied by a supervisor. She actually crashed the bloody thing doing a u-turn on the night she picked it up!

I've got all her details, full name, DOB and even a pic of her car with the licence plate clearly visible...
