    NZ arse-backwards bureaucracy strikes again...

Just read this story in the Harold.

I mean, yes they are South African, but really deporting a someone with a solid job paying taxes for the sake of a couple of bent rules while we're handing out free homes to people who can't even speak english?

    I say again WTF?

Oh Mr D, you're being silly again.

Harbouring racists and not handing out free homes to refugees will not get you a job in the United Nations.

Now I bet if he had been a professional like a doctor etc this would not have happened. While I agree with your sentiments Mr D do we realy need another car salesman?? I don't think so.

By voluntarily moving to Auckland he has demonstrated a severe lack of good judgement as well - and do we need another car salesman?

Haha..but seriously..haha - you are calling for common sense and a sense of perspective from the beaureaucrats.
That's the real joke I'm afraid.

He should have gone straight onto a benefit, then our Communist government would have welcomed them with open arms.

Silly but typical NZ narrowminded attitude and not thinking outside the box..........plus the Govt would have known he had changed jobs anyway due to his pay......oh sorry seperate depts....geeze......

Doesn't create a good image for NZ.......from "Asians bad driving'" to "South Africans with Jobs not allowed".....

The guy had only been here 6 weeks so had a lot on his plate, stress of leaving his homeland and new country and then sees a job opportunity.........sorry do not pass immigration or collect visa, go straight back to South Africa.......

He should have kidney disease and repeatedly beat his wife to a pulp.
THEN we'll welcome him with open arms.

Seems to me to be a bit of fault on both sides

The guy should not have waited 10 months (according to the Herald this morning) to tell the Feds he had changed jobs, but I think the Govt are over-reacting a little here.
If they focussed this much energy into ridding NZ of our current massive population of overstayers, then we wouldnt have the problem that exists today.

Of all the immigrants I have met in recent years, the Sth Africans have to be amongst my favourites (especially around Tri-Nations time!), with the Pom-golians and others from the UK a close second - you never seem to read about them breaking the laws of our land with reckless disregard (unlike some of our other immigrant population)
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...

HAHAHA, nah, you've gotta be here for 2 years before you can get on the benefit... trust me I know...

K, now I sound like a cheap-skate, BUT... while being on the benefit, I have got a bike, and thouroughly hate having to go drive anywhere in a car..... so it's not all that bad

But yeah, that really sux for that family... it doesn't seem fair that after all this time that they've been in this country, but in a way it is their fault... why didn't he apply for permanent residence earlier, instead of sitting on a work permit? that's just asking for trouble...

Thats fucken ridiculous. I know the amount of work a family has to do to LEAVE SA, but just because of an oversight and a delay in telling them he has to leave? Well fuck me, careful everyone, if you are lazy but still have the decency to work in a good job, the govt might just kick you out the country. Easiest thing to do is go on the dole. The govt will force hard working citizens to PAY YOU for the pleasure.

It is the NZ law though, so he should have done what they asked.

if it was important to him he woulda carefully looked at the rules , but he didnt its his mistake not immigrations , he applied for a permit based on working in whangarei not auckland , its easier to get a permit when you are going to work out of auckland . he may not of been eligible for a permit if the job was based in auckland in the first place .
where is the logic in this ?
aucklands infrastructure is currently pushed to capacity , 1 more is not just 1 more . its 4 more cause he has a whole family, then when all the other cheats try to get around being based out of auckland like he did then that equals 1000s .
    fuck him send him packing

It does seem sad and unfair, but he did get a permit to work in Whangarei, not Auckland.

Theres a reason these rules apply, and I'll bet he knew the rules too.

    Still. Let em stay.

I must admit, I'd never thought about Winja's point before now. But now that I have, I agree. I guess if the rules are there they are there for a reason and he should have to abide by them just like everyone else. If he dodges them or twists them to his advantage (like most of us do to certain laws we don't like) then he has to accept the consequences.

In saying that, it is a bit bloody stupid that we'll welcome a bunch of useless bums to suck up our taxes and boot the taxpayers out. Not good economic sense in my book. I thought basic economics told you that some cash must come in first to cover the outgoings. Which probably explains why I'm not the minister of finance... or immigration.

Dude, I read the article online this morning as I was eating my breakfast and thought EXACTLY the same thing.

What is with this bloody country where the govt lets in useless layabouts who can't speak the national language and/or don't want to work anyway and just sit on a benefit for years on end?

This family is working and trying to make a go of it and all the Dept of Labour can say is that "they are no longer welcome in this country" Like hell!! As far as I'm concerned they are more than welcome to live here. Get rid of some of the other useless rubbish polluting our country with their crime and greed instead, send them back where they came from.
