A great day , apart from the 2 "incidents". The dubious distinction of being the first person in the country to write off(If its not written off, it'll be close) a CBR1000RR goes to John, who, we think hit gravel on the Coroglen bridge and went sliding off over a bank into a paddock! 300kms on it .Ouch! And the unfortunate 996 who got it all wrong at the Kopu side of the hill and ended up cartwheeling his bike over a bank.Seriously bent both ends and not insured! Double ouch! Both riders OK though, which is the main thing!
A good turnout at the Autobahn and we set of through Ramarama to Ararimu, out to Mangatawhiri, back to Miranda then much front tyre preserving by some, down to Thames.Met up with others, then changed direction of loop to go over Kopu first......first incident....1 dead Duck! Over to Whangamata turnoff for regroup....Richards pack was open....lost his gloves....back up to the top off the hill, he went and we didnt see him again til Coromandel! Some more wheelies by our resident hoons and off to Whitianga for lunch. Another stop at Coroglen after the 2nd oops, to make sure John? was OK and things sorted. It was a bit worrying at this point.....was it going to be a trip of attrition....the last bike upright gets home? But she was sweet...no more incidents except for a wayward chain coming off after Coromandel. A bit of sunstrike on the way back, but all in all - a good ride.
About 15-18 bikes started , with a few leaving at various points. We seemed to sort ourselves into speed groups and there were lots of stops for regrouping and smokes etc.
    Well done Mr Death.

Yes today was excellent! Two-up on a 400 and we were escorted into Whitianga by two very considerate faster riders...cheers guys, would have missed the turn off if not for you!
Sharon and I moved to another level of two-up competency today thanks to an awesome route (what a great road loop) and plenty of open space...Sharon is champing at the bit for her first bike, now......no-one made us feel like slow asses and you were all very friendly and well organised...well done Death Inc.
Cheers to Draco for talking Sharon into the right 'first bike' !

    Thanks to one and all.

What an awesome day! Thanx to all who joined death & I, you guys were the best bunch ive ridden with in ages. Thanx to all our hoons who were really patient and waited (regularly) for us slow pokes to catch up.

Shame about the crashes, but glad that both guys were not hurt. Thanx to all who helped fix Ryan's chain too. Great team work.

Look forward to seeing Sharon on her own bike next time
MadDuck, you missed a great day.

Anyone interested in a regular ride, say once a month (but not that long) let us know, were keen.

Look forward to another with you again.

good to meet a whole new bunch of faces and bikes (now do you think I can put them together?-not likely) today. Made up in spades for last weekends shocking weather! still slacked off about loosing my gloves and jacket-especially since I spent an hour searching the entire freakin kopu road to no avail.

now... scuse me while I go check my bank account to see if I can buy a desperately needed rear tyre!!

    cheers guys/girls!

Going with another Diablo? I am not at all confidant with the Diablo I have on the rear. Oh well, I guess it slows me down a bit.

That rear tyre can't be very old - how many kms have you got out of it??

    Good times in coro

    Hey all,

Must say I had a mean time on the ride. First time i've gone on a ride with others like that and it was great to follow some good riders on the windy bits. Looking foward to doing it again sometime. As for wheelies/stoppies/crashies/breakdownies etc, I know I had no problem with anyone one the ride, their attitude or any pressure to keep up. Was just a good time. Sorry to quasievil for not hanging round at Thames for the trip back to Hamilhole but something came up with the g/f.

    catch ya all next time

Its always good to put faces and things to names. Good thing Old Edge came along or I'd have been the old guy again...
Always good to see other peoples riding styles.
