If I come up behind you, I don't expect you to move over for me. Just continue to ride your own ride and I'll figure out your line/style and pick my time to pass. Lets face, a motorbike ain't that hard to pass. If you're going at a pace that I'll struggle to pass you then I'll probably be happy to follow.
Remember that the rider infront of you owns the road.
The only time I expect you to pull over for me is if you're following a cage in the twisties and are hesistating to pass. Chances are I won't have the opportunity to pass both you and the cage, but I don't want to flick between you and the cage and cut you off. So please let me past and I promise not to hold you up.
Before anyone complains that I'm on a thou, so can pass anywhere, I had a 600 previously and know exactly what it's like to be stuck behind a more powerful bike. It's all about picking a safe time and opportunity and being decisive, enjoy the challenge. If it ain't gonna happen, You can always drop back and give yourself some space.
I have no problems with passing in corners as long as you've got the clear visibility to complete the pass safely. If you choose to pass on blind corners and ride like a fuckwit then do it away from me, otherwise be prepared for me to tell you exactly what I think of you at the next stop.
It's just one of those days, where you don't wanna wake up,
everything is fucked, everybody sucks,
You don't really know why but you wanna justify ripping someone's head off
Easy, let them go on ahead and distance yourself from them, exercise patience. Why risk a serious accident?Originally Posted by r4q2
As I said r4q2, there is no excuse, you yerself said that you were forced into doing a "dum overtake going into a corner", and that's just what it was, dumb. Someone not letting you pass is also dangerous, but two wrongs don't make a right! No doubt there are some exceptions to the general rule of no passing on corners, but that wasn't one of them.Originally Posted by r4q2
Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Passing around the outside of a corner is one thing, but doing it while your pissed off with the motorist in front of you is another!Originally Posted by tristank
I feel a *road rage* thread coming on...
I find that is safer as you can go at a legal speed but pass the vehicle quicker being on the inside line. So long as you can see there are no vehicles ahead and you do all the correct indicating I think there is no problem. I've done that several times on the rimutakas and I don't think I was being a dickOriginally Posted by Jantar
Doh, this thread was created because it did happen to me recently, and several others.Originally Posted by texmo
I'm meaning more the fact I get pissed off when this happens for a good chunk of my favourite corro loop section etc, that's why now I will just pass (without getting pissed off) after a minute or so of sitting in a visible position with lights on etc.Originally Posted by Zed
Save the race moves for the track, but yeah depends on the riders. If its between people that regulary ride & trust each other then thats fine. If its becuase your trying to impress thats not cool. Another reason not to group ride.
I love the smell of twin V16's in the morning..
Not going into a big speech Matt, but with you 100% - it goes nicely with your thread on KB ride - out incidents.
Well done that man![]()
Okay my bad, i've changed the original post to "blind corner", apologies for not being more clearer...must be this cold i've got.Originally Posted by Jantar

U kinda read my mind there SM, i was going to add in tailgating when i started the thread cos they go hand in hand, but decided to separate both 'infringments' at the last minute.Originally Posted by SpeedMedic
You tailgaters need to wake up too!![]()
its mint to have a group of riders your comfortable with,
knowing how the others move etc.
not much beats the feeling of riding round the outside of someone.
it can be done safely, time and place etc.
up the kia mais is a great example,
on tight 25/35k corners in a group that doesnt ride together Alot isnt.
'They' SAY to not overtake on the inside...Originally Posted by tristank

I was overtaken by two bikes at the same time, on the inside.
I didn't care. They went past, i went past the car... no harm done.
How about you stop telling us what to do Zed?
edit time:
Since it has been noted (after I wrote this post) that we are talking about BLIND corners, Blind corners are only okay if you don't cross the centerline.
I suffer from hooliganism.... Know me before you judge me

what the fuck oyu on about zed?
you mean if your racing your mates up rimutakas?
or going to work?
or been chased by the cops?
or out on a kiwibiker learner ride?
wouldnt do it on the last one but the rest is fair go
Each to there own and you aren't gonna convert anyone here Zed that doesn't wanna be.. but expect a 'few words' if you're considered dangerous. To play with your life is one thing.. to fuck with someone elses is a different ball game:eyepoke:
