    How to "store" Google Videos.

i posted this in the MotoGP thread but thought it might come in handy so read up...

all videos on google are deployed in Flash.

for a flash file to play it needs to be cached on your computer.

while there is no "right click save as" option you will find that pretty much all media (images, videos, cookies, webpages etc) are saved in your temporary internet files.

so you better flush it quick to get rid of all the kiddy porn

hehe. just kidding, but you WILL find the video.

mine for example was here: C:\Documents and Settings\Andrew\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

and it was a big one so if you sort the directory by filesize it should be near the top. (30.2mb)

copy this file to a new location as it wont play out of your cache.

    then

download this flash flv player. its free and works http://www.download.com/3001-2139_4-10505954.html?idl=n

    annnd your away laughing.

(dont forget to get rid of the porn while you are at it... and dont let the wife know this trick ;-) )
    gone.

I would like to save some of these programs, Some are classics you could watch forever

    Could I use samer technique??

Funnily enough, I downloaded a doco off Google Video, which it saved as a .gvp file. I've got a PC in the lounge which is connected to the telly (but not the internet) so that I can watch movies on it. I installed the Google Player onto this PC, loaded up the video, but it wont play. Wants to sign in to Google first.

What sort of a cr@p idea is this? Let you download a movie for "offline" viewing, but then still require that you have an internet connection to view it?

Does anyone know of another video player that will work with the Google format? I have to confess, I didnt actually try to play the file in a different player after installing the Google one, so I dunno whether it installs a standard codec that other players can take advantage of.

I just figured it was all kinda wank really.

or you can just download the clip by using the download button, which is on most clips. For those that aren't, then go for the above. But check for the download button on the right hand panel too
