Okay just recieved an email from orcon regarding a few questions i had asked
    '
The 40gb limit is the upload and the download combined.'

'Also you are not on any contract with us.If you want to disconnect.

Go online to our website at http://www.orcon.net.nz/products/bit...stingcustomer/ and fill out the cancellation form (Cancel my Bitstream).

Please note and understand the following:

    - You will continue to be billed for up to 45 days for the Bitstream service. How long this is depends on the service billing cycle that Telecom has flagged your DSL line on.
    - You will receive an email from our Provisioning team to the email address you nominate, and must reply to this email or your order will not be actioned.
    - You should receive the Confirmation to disconnect email within a maximum of two working days.
    - If you have not received an email from our Provisioning team after 3 working days, you should get back in touch with us. This is your responsibility, and Orcon will not take responsibility for lost messages.

If your would like to view a full copy of the terms and conditions please click on the following link: http://www.orcon.net.nz/help/terms'

45 days to disconnect when it only takes 7-10 days to connect. Which i think is bullshit

I am personally thinking of heading back to ihugs 2meg 20gb plan, What really annoyed me with orcon plan is that they didn't speed the plan, i could understand putting a cap or raising price, but if you do these things you should at least put the speed up.

That'll be telecom for you. Other ISP's are probably in the same boat but are absorbing the hit or givng you billing cycle themselves.

Fire an email to a poly/MP in your area, the more ammo we/they have against the monopolistic scum that is Telcon the more likely they are to tell them to bend over and touch their ankles!

Surely all this means is that it will take upto 45 days for their "Final" bill to be served as thats the billing cycle they are on from Telecom?

    Arrow Here we go again...

If its not he Govt & tax, its the petrol price. If its not the petrol price, now its the internet charges? Fact is: if you want an ISP or petrol, you will pay whatever it is that they charge. Quite simple really. As for the adverts for better ADSL from telecom, they should be done for false advertising!

Well you are getting screwed in NZ ( And I agree Telesum are causing the prob, whoosh , or even Jetstream ,,,or Ohmygosh isnth this fast...)

I am complaining cos they advertise 100 Mb/s and I get 33 ,,like paying for a car and finding out there are only 3 wheels ,, Oh an I am un capped either way and its relatively cheap 6k yen a month or the price of 5 single malt wiskeys from the pub.

But you are right thats the price that they charge ..so you must pay , BUT if you dont like it you dont have to lump it. COMPLAIN to the parliment.

ITS FREEPOST ,,,as in FREE , just a bit of paper and something to put it in , 5 min writing a letter and write free post on the outside ..

Same letter each day to the same fella...will get a reply.

next time you see helen a walking ..just give her a copy ...
    Works trust me

Stephen ( dont complain do something about it ,,,THEN Complain )

The world is flat someone told me once so I must accept that to?

We have no reason to accept anything in this country, thats why we live in one of those Democracy things by theory our opinions should be heard by the government and acted upon.

And should NZ be held in the dark ages while the rest of the world leaps ahead technologically Inline? All because one company has become addicted to its multi billion dollar profits?

Y'see a few years back I would have agreed, but now I realise it's not the case.

The raison d'etre for a publically traded company is to make money for it's shareholders. Now, Telecom (starting with Ms Gattung's reign) has realised that trying to make money from competing in telecommunications is a mugs' game and that they'd be much better off lobbying, hoodwinking and generally making the NZ government look like the bunch of lamer twats they are ... hence being one of the very few countries in the world without ULL and with pretty well all our government services being tied in to Telecom's ... ummm .... shit.

Because it is shit. As a provider of telecommunications services they are lame beyond all description. But as a machine for extracting money from the Kiwi public and passing it over to their investors it is finely tuned, well maintained and doing it's job perfectly.
