Arson suspected in courier bike bay row

Police are investigating a suspected arson attack after a motorbike exploded in flames in a quiet London square.

Residents have been campaigning for the last six months to get a cluster of motorcycle bays in one corner of Northampton Square, EC1, removed. The bays, which face an entrance to City University, have become a popular meeting spot for couriers.

Police are treating the fire as arson but say a lack of witnesses makes this impossible to prove.
