Woo, f-ing hoo. No doubt our tax dollars will now be subsidising the manufacture of sequinned swimsuits, nose clips and waterproof makeup....this is not a sport, neither is anything else that depends some some bunch of blazers of a junket deciding who's better. That goes for gymnastics too.

    2) Australia tops the medal table. Right, it's time this swimming malarky was sorted out, having all these different strokes is a waste of time, as if it wasn't boring enough watching eight splashes moving slowly up and down a pool, I mean we don't have 100m for running backwards or hopping in the athletics program do we?

    3) The Haka. Everytime some athlete you've never heard of wins we have to put up with their team mates taking their shirts off and doing a bloody haka. We need legislation now to prevent this, there are two acceptable venues for the Haka, before an AB's test match and pissed Kiwis on OE in Edinburgh for New Years.

I feel much better now, thanks for listening.
Thanks for posting "your" opinion. I am free to choose whether to agree or not. Partly I do, some I don't. At least I can choose=freedom.
If you don't like it just turn it off, your choice.
I must admit I am all Haka'd out, it is just getting watered down to mean f*ck all now.
But Aussies can't talk, they have driven me nuts for years with "Waltzing Matilda" and "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oi, oi ,oi" all over the bloody world!
They are jealous of the Haka and we (NZr's) are giving them a reason to complain by dickheads completely over doing it.
Too much for me I'm afraid, sick to death of it and getting kind of embarrassed by it but thats just my opinion. :spudwhat: Cheers John.

    Are you high?

Pointing your toes is physical now is it? Hanging upside down is physical?

Holding your breath - now that is a real challenge! I got lots of practice when I didn't get what I wanted as a kid

Syncronised swimming as as much a sport as painting or sculpture

If they want to add another sport it should be Bullrush - that would be something to watch!

not to mention hammer, discus, shotput, javelin, high, long, pole and triple jump, all just variations on a theme.

    then there's cycling.............
I'd agree with you, but what sort of show would a marathon runner put on for the crowd in a 100m sprint? A very pathetic one. Same with the long and short distance cyclists, so in my opinion they qualify as a legit sport for the games as they are going the fastest way possible to the finish line.

Now for swimming - as said before the runners don't hop or go backwards (too slow), the cyclists go to the line as quickly as possible, so yeh freestyle is ok as it's the fastest way to the finish but fuck off breaststroke backstroke sidestroke and masturstroke.

Bowls / rugby / tennis / cricket and fishing - they're games where you practise, not sports where you train. Go somewhere where someone gives a shit.

Gymnastics - these roided russians are cool to watch and it's legal to look at girls wearing bugger all so ok in my book.

Equestrian? Give the horse the medal and more drugs. If this gay sport qualifies then so should MotoGp and F1. They're too cool for Olympics anyway.

    Badminton and squash? See tennis.

Judo Taekwondo and Playdoh? This under 51kg Uder 55kg Under 57kg and all that is a crock. If you're a midget, you don't deserve to represent any country.

    Think that's all

No 2. Cor-rect. The key for me is objectively scored, you have to be able to measure by time, distance, goals scored who has won...and don't start with that tenuous argument about referees and umpires being subjective, you can keep that red herring to yourself.

It ain't a sport if you have to rely on someone else to decide if you were good enough to win...in my opinion.

Yeh they should just have one ring, 2 fighters, no gloves, no rules, no weight restrictions and last man standing. They're the general rules in running / cycling / swimming.

    1) remove it unless they all agree to compete nude
    2) I don't think it's worth the crying and whinging from the Aussies to remove a whole bunch of them
    3) better than singing Waltzing Mathilda or Swing Low etc.

yeah, I'm high - as usual, sorry 'bout that.

Next time the synchronised swimming is on you watch it and tell me it's not physical. More physical than motorcycle racing...and I'm not saying motorcycle racing isn't physical, I'm just saying that synchronised swimming is more physical.

Good debate though ain't it fellas!

Theres far more virtuous things to have in the games than motorcycling.

Rock Climbing anyone? Now that would be an awesome sport to watch even if you cant climb.
