    Another newb (JT.)

Hi, just getting around to sorting out my bike licence. Should've done it years ago so now when I want a bike I don't have start out on a 250...

but alas I coudln't be bothered and now it's going to bite me in the bum, literally.

Is it just me or have the sport bike prices gone up? Looking back through posts it seems like you pay more now for older 250 bikes than a year or 2 ago?

I'm looking at an 89 zxr from a dealer down here in Dunedin, he wants 3900 but it could do with a good clean and the usual fluids/filters. It's a trade in and he said if he got it ready he'd be wanting 4500. What sort of guarentee should I expect when buying from a dealer? Always bought cars second hand so not really up with the play

There's only a couple of 250's on trademe in Dunners, there's a bandit in invercargill for a reasonable price. Besides speed am I gonna notice much difference between going from dunedin to christchurch on either 250 farters? Haven't spent hours at a time in the saddle before.

    Cheers guys

You would have to ask him. Normally, with second-hand bikes, you would get a 3 month warranty, but it pays to check. Very useful things they can be

Hey welcome! Might I sugest a 150 of some sorts? they are very underated as learner bikes... most people think they are slow but they aren't to bad... and they are a muuuuch cheaper option considering most people upgrade later in their riding career

FXR150's are good leaners bikes, those kind of smaller bikes. also a Hornet would be great!

    Cheers guys

While speed isn't my main concern I've done a bit of off road riding, 4 and 2 stroke so I'm guessing I'd get pretty bored of a 150. I'm just over 6ft, what model 250's are good for us taller guys?

The bandit has gone but there's a 96 in dunners so will take a look at that one instead.
