    DJ Work

Does anybody here do DJ work? As in playing songs through computers etc for dances and parties.

Also, what songs go down really well at dance parties and things?

I'm organising with a friend, a dance-type thing. We don't want much "Black music" but we want a bit of everything. We have like 41 songs or so at the moment. Here's the list so far...

    Darude - Sandstorm
    - Feel The Beat
    Groove Armada - Super stylin'
    - My Friend
Fat Boy Slim - Right Here, Right Now
    - Check It Out Now
    - Push The Tempo
    Spiderbait - Black Betty
    Europe - Final Countdown
    Rammstein - Du Hast

Proclaimers - I'm On My Way
    - 500 Miles
    Bombfunk MC's - Freestylers
MC Hammer - Can't Touch This
Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
Starship - We Built This City
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax
Elvis - A Little Less Conversation (JXL Remix)
    Goodnight Nurse - Milkshake
    Kelis - Milkshake

    Grease - Grease Lightning
NoFX - Stickin' In My Eye
Presidents Of The USA - Peaches
    Upheld - Lowlife
    - Dry Your Tears
The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
Violent Femmes - Blister In The Sun
Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name Of
    - Renegades Of Funk
The Arctic Monkeys - I Bet That You Look Good On The Dance Floor

    Run DMC - It's Tricky
Atreyu - Right Side Of The Bed
Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer
The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright
The Donna's - My Bad Reputation
Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up
    The Vapors - Turning Japanese
ACDC - Shook Me All Night Long
    Alice Cooper - Poison
Bernard Fanning - Wish You Well

    Bob Sinclar - Love Generation

All that comes to about 2h50mins and we want between 3.3-4 hours or so. Some help or advice would be appreciated, thanks.

podcasts (via iTunes) are your friend..
I've found and downloaded a few and their anywhere between 40 to 90 minutes long of uninterrupted dance music which I'm addicted to at the moment.. and it's all fresh stuff from around the world

Best stuff I'm addicted to at the moment is 'Orion' and 'Gateway'.. just awesome. In total, you've probably got about 6 hrs of free dance music right there

    http://www.djgateway.info - Gateway

There's a few more which aren't too bad, but so far since downloading, I've listened to a few track 20 something times, and I've only had them a few weeks. I'll have to find some more stuff..

Yeah, techno is common stuff, all the regularly played techno anyway.

Loveshack (pass on artist), and J Lo - Lets Get Loud

those are common, along with all the other classic disco stuff

Got DJ Otzy - Hey Baby??

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Also try the Hed Kandi series, in particular Twisted Disco and Disco Heaven CD's. They've got heaps of the more popular commercial tracks on them that everyone will know and dance to.

Depends what age your catering for. I played Cannibal Corpse and Cradle of Filth at my daughters 4th birthday. The kids loved it.
