    To check if the alternator is charging correctly,measure the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running.
    The voltage should be 14v to 15.5v,usually14.2v to 14.5v.
    Borrow a multimeter or buy an under $20 one from Jaycar or Dick Smith

    (Does a Dick smith abuse himself with a hammer?)
