not meaning anyone here, BUT seems to me that some peops aren't responsible on two FEET let alone two wheels ......... and by far the safest thing to do with them WOULD be to have them put down .......

Obviously a young lady who was/is thinking about motorcycles gives a fuck and is having second thoughts.

And yes it can hurt when we get hit by a car but car and bike crashes often occur for different reasons and smetimes the results are different. I have avoided potential crashes on my motorcycle that I reckon Id hve been stuffed in if driving a car by superior braking, using less road space and also motorcyclists tend to look further ahead and ride more defensively (don't we?).
The only time I was hit by another vehicle (a light truck that lost control on a bend and slid sideways into my lane) in 30 years sent me on a short period of flight while my bike (RD 350) was reduced to a ball of tangled metal and shoved into a small retaining wall. Pinged ribs kept me quiet for a while but I often wonder how I would have fared trapped in a car in the same accident.

This is a pointless arguement.
You could have just as easily been reduced to a small ball of tangled flesh and bone.

The whole point of this thread was for me to ask whether other people before starting out biking felt a bit worried about the dangers... don't flame me for asking!!

If everybody worried about travelling in private vehicles,there would be far fewer deaths on the road.
