When I was young and started riding, you were either a rebel rider (brit bikes) or a sanatised rider) Jap / italian.
(excuse me, I've been drinking)
The rebel riders (the hard core) talked endlessly of 'class'. In the last months, I have been in the company of real class.
18 months ago, my co worker (and friend) was diagnosed with cancer.
He has fought hard, learned more and fought a little more. Tonight we had the first wake (no he aint dead yet) and all the ex workers, customers, friends mates etc came into work and had a chance to tell the old bastard what they thought of him etc and really, he organised the lot!
Fuck me... I've never felt so lifted and inspired yet so fuckin' sad in all my life! Brian. You are a class act brother! To all you 'hard' bastards out there. Piss off! I've seen one little science geek tough it out harder than ANYTHING and he joins the few I give genuine respect to.
Live your life people. REALLY live it and don't wait for later on!
Anyway, more later but I just needed to tell someone that I have seen humanity at it best, most noble and tough as hell! Christ I hope I can come to my end with as much grace and bravery. Awe is too little a word!
We will be poorer for his passing.
Damn
I'm off...
