    Pukekohe photos 1st April 2006

Here are a few photos today from the round 4 AMCC club champs at pukekohe.

These were the few that I took on my own camera. Most of the day I was using Nodman's camera (more powerful zoom and higher resolution), so there will be more photos to follow in the next day or two hopefully.

Ok, got the photos from Nodman's camera and have edited and resized them.
They're all in the album with the first lot of photos:

If you want any of the original photos, email the the image name and I'll send it to you. Be aware though that the 5 megapixel images are around 900kB each.
The 10x zoom was good for the hairpin shots, but I was still getting used to the camera so a lot of the pics aren't as good as they could be. I think the LCD viewfinder made tracking the fast moving bikes more difficult than with my cheaper canon a40 which just has a optical (but not through the lense like an SLR) viewfinder.

cheers Erik, just realised, if the images are only 900kb you still had 1 more setting higher to go, sets them to around 2.4mb each. Also the 10x zoom is optical eh?

anyways, thanks heaps for the pics dude!

I think they're on the max resolution the camera can do, 2272x1704 pixels.
But they were taken on normal quality which uses slightly higher jpeg compression (around 8% compression or 92% quality which ever way you look at it).
I don't think I can tell the difference between normal and fine quality, most of the time for photos on the web I compress them around 25% and they look good.
Yep, the 10x zoom is optical. Digital zoom is a waste of time since it basically just crops the image.

    Cheers for the comments everyone

Sorry. I don't know which bike is yours. I try to get photos of bikes/riders I recognise, if they've already gone past then I try to get photos of the other bikes. So it's bad luck I guess. Let me know what number/bike/class you are racing in and I'll try and get a photo of you next time.

Hey Motobob he only got one of me too, and I'm one of Nodman's son's biggest supporters...most dissappointing. Good to see us old buggers at the back of F2 eh?
