If I race at Puke again, I know that I can get a 1:14. Firstly I'd take the g-clamp and toolkit and chainlock out of the boot (can't believe I forgot to empty the boot), and secondly I'd take the headlight out. Thirdly I know that I can do better at the section after the hairpin leading up to over the hill. I was leaving too much margin for error. All I need to do is drop 0.17 and I'll be in 14's. Easy.

Hey vtec do you have stock pegs on your bike?

Yep, I just took the little screw in knobs off the bottom, they still scraped quite a bit on the track though.

Haha, the only things off your bike that I was using was the chain and the rear wheel. It's just nice to know that I've got another engine there, one with a bit more special sauce too. Might even open it up to see if I can sort out that tappet noise. Might take a look at how to adjust the valves aswell.

After coro loop my left peg was 1/3 the size it was orignally and the right was about 1/2 the size but I didnt get off my bike that much.
    Just curious.

I weigh 65kg, and I move my weight around quite a bit on the bike to prevent footpeg scrapeage. Its the key to fast stable cornering I believe.

I must admit they are mounted annoyingly low. Still, it makes it a comfortable long distance bike too. I had found that I was scraping the pegs over the top of the hill on puke at 150-160k/hr (indicated)

Yer but thats a good thing as KK said they make you feel like the man when you scrape your pegs on every corner!

That tappet noise can be adjusted out, it needs a 205 shim put onto one of the (8) right hand valves, the only reason I didn't do it is cause I didn't have one on hand

how often do they do open days for bikers at puke? I would love to head out there with some hay bales and martials and get some experience on the track under the belt! Puke is far too unforgiving on a bike otherwise.

There is a trackday this Sat. Look as long as you don't push it too hard you should be fine. I feel pretty safe everywhere on Puke even the hill.

How confident are you at braking while the bike is leaned over?? I'm not trying to give you any tips as I can't ride for shit - I'm just trying to gauge your experience level.

i got my licence in September 2002, rode a 1976 Vespa for 6months, had nothing for 6months, then rode on GF250's commuting up until May last year. I didnt do any 'caining' up until i got the ZXR so technically i have only been 'riding' for 11mths...

either way riding age has got shit all to do with it. It's whether your in it for speed or enjoyment - people like TS, Bruce, Motoracer, White trash etc didnt get into bikes to get around, they got into bikes to go fast... and in some cases, race.

Basically vtec has some serious balls, and has applied his skill, knowledge and advice given to him extremely well and has come out with a top result. and he had a good bike

My 1.28 was pretty average... that was in my second session, a nd i dont think i was pushing my bike anywhere near as hard as vtec was pushing his. Only thing i can do now is get the R6 ready for the track, grow some balls, and try to set some decent times!

he rode with me and tristan over coro... he's somewhere between you and tristan on a 250 - so that should give you a faint idea of where he's at
